Cooper City opened the 2026 high school swimming and diving season with a sweep of Deerfield Beach and West Broward in its Broward County Athletic Association opener Wednesday at its home pool.

The Cowboys girls’ team, led by double winner Skylar Flowers and three relay wins, defeated West Broward, 129-35 and Deerfield Beach 132-26. West Broward topped Deerfield Beach, 74-17.

Flowers won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.81 and 100-yard freestyle in 59.91. She was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays.

Other Cooper City winners were Ariela Blanco Rodriguez in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:26.48; Karen Iino in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.74; Saree Young in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:12.57 and Milena Michalek in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:16.65.

Laila Harran of West Broward won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:04.00 and 500-yard freestyle in 5:30.

In the boys’ competition, Cooper City defeated West Broward, 129-35, and Deerfield Beach 132-26. West Broward defeated Deerfield Beach, 96-27

Michal Michalek and Aadi Patel were double winners.

Michalek won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.71 and 100-yard butterfly in 54.54.

Patel won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.50 and 100-yard freestyle in 52.76.

Cooper City also swept the boys’ relays.

Becket Menacho of Deerfield Beach was also a double winner in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:59.83 and 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.23.
