In classic style, we were running and gunning so hard all weekend that we barely took any photos. Beach training and world class instructors. Plus group activities visiting Block Island and the Charlestown Seafood Festival!

Trip No. 4 to Okinawa did NOT disappoint! World class instruction from some of the most knowledgeable instructors on the planet and so much more! I go to Okinawa because of karate, but I go back for the culture. The sights, sounds, food and people of Okinawa are like none other. If you do not experience these things in Okinawa, then you have missed out on something magical! Thanks to EVERYONE who makes these trips so special. Especially my sensei, my students, my friends and my wife!

Yesterday we finished our training with Hanshi Judan Nakazato Minoru. After a STRONG Kobudo session, most of our group went on a tour of Mabuni Point & Okinawa World, while others went to the Hombu Dojo for testing and promotions. Today, we continued our karate master tour by visiting the tombs of Bushi Matsumura, Ankoh Itotsu & Shugoro Nakazato. Today we are preparing for Typhoon Bavi to impact the island. Hopefully, we’ll be able to fly home as scheduled tomorrow. 🌀 ✈️ 🤞

After our Koubdo session yesterday we went Shuri Castle to see the progress on the reconstruction and take photos at the Shuri Mon gate that is on our patch. We also visited the Chosin Chibana and Shugoro Nakazato monuments to pay our respects to these two masters that are so important to our karate.

Last night Kyoshi Haley hosted a banquet for our to honor Hanshi Judan Nakazato Minoru. Sensei was in high spirits from our training earlier in the day. He said “your performance matched my count”. No small feat for a group of 130+ from USA, Canada, South Africa. Australia and Ireland all training together. And of COURSE we ended the night with everyone singing “Piano Man” featuring Kyoshi Ahrens on harmonica! 🥋 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇿🇦 🇦🇺 🇮🇪 🎹 🎶
