Samir Alnasir is a loving husband, a devoted father of four, and a dedicated caregiver to his bedridden son, who has needed ongoing medical care since birth and is currently in need of a kidney. At 51 years old, Samir has always worked hard and put his family first. He is well known and respected in his community through his work as a soccer referee and captain. On August 27, 2026, at 7:06 pm, while refereeing a soccer game between Hamtramck and U of D Jesuit at University of Detroit Jesuit High School, Samir was struck in the back of the head by a kicked ball. He lost consciousness and collapsed on the field. This devastating accident left him with four fractured bones in his neck, a concussion, a blood clot in his brain, and nerve damage.
Samir is now on strict bed rest with a metal stabilization device while his neck heals. Doctors expect about six months of recovery followed by therapy, and during this time he is unable to work. That means his family is facing ongoing lost income along with the continuing cost of household needs and daily care for both Samir and his medically fragile son. His wife is now carrying the weight of caring for Samir, their children, and their son while trying to keep the home running.
