We are excited to welcome Diamond K Aspen Gold to the program. Aspen is a 4 year old registered Westfalen standing just under 15.3 (and still growing) and has really interesting breeding. His sire is Canadian Warmblood “Aloha” and his dam is a Welsh Cob Section D. Not only is he a gorgeous palomino coloring, but he has the most distinguished mustache I’ve ever seen on a horse.
Aspen came to us from our good friend Mystic Pope to get a solid foundation on how to be a good horsey citizen and then find his perfect person. He had his first backing today and it was no drama from start to finish. We are excited to see how this fancy guy develops.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with Cosi’s progress under saddle. He has been so easy and laid back in addition to comfortably settling into riding with the most lovely and relaxed gaits. He is going to be an ammy’s dream if this is how he is already looking with an ammy rider at only three years old.

Ok, this is pretty darn cool. I must say, I wasn’t the happiest when I saw a handful of balloons over the show grounds, and more being blown up, but our horses don’t seem to care at all. So, in that case, how awesome is it to have the balloon festival here over the last day of the show!!

Haven’t lost my touch in the Arabian world. Still two more days to go.

Sigh, Salty had a superb xc round on Saturday… with the exception of one jump. It wasn’t even the water, it was a right pointed brush corner. I still need to work on getting Salty a little more consistent in trusting and responding quickly when he is unsure about what’s in front of him. It’s not hard to see that every one of the jumps was in no way physically difficult for Salty, even with a slip the stride before a big table. It looks like a pleasant canter around some cute little jumps for him 🙃. We’ll keep putting in the work, and i am looking forward to the run when we get it putball together.

Salty and I had a successful first day at the The Maryland Horse Trials 2*. We had a respectable dressage test, where I was particularly happy with our canter transitions. We had one of the fastest SJ rounds, which is a win for us, and we have been coming in under powered in some of our recent rounds. If it weren’t for that one pesky rail, we would be sitting in 5th. Regardless, I am happy that we are sitting just outside of the top ten in 11th. On to xc tomorrow. I have a plan for the water. We”ll see how it plays out.

Perfect peace. If this isn’t what heaven is like, it should be.

Dressage day for the Arabians. Dejah and Dos are working hard to prep for Arabian Horse Association Region 15 Championships in less than two weeks.
