🔧GOOD MORNING & WELCOME TO ANOTHER TECH TUESDAY!🚲
If you ride often enough, sooner or later, you're probably going to experience a flat tire. Being prepared can make the difference between a quick roadside repair and a long walk home!
Here are some things we recommend carrying with you:
🔧Multi-tool: Some bikes use quick-release axles, while others have thru-axles that require a tool for wheel removal. A small multi-tool can also handle many other minor adjustments you may need while riding.
🛞Tire levers: A necessity for getting the tire off the rim so you can access the tube.
🩹Patch kit & tire boot: A patch kit can repair a punctured tube, while a tire boot can temporarily cover a larger cut or tear in the tire casing.
🆕Spare tube: Optional, but replacing a tube is often quicker than patching one. Just make sure you carry the correct size!
🛞Tubeless plugs: If you're running tubeless tires, a tubeless plug kit is highly recommended for repairing punctures while out on the trail or road.
💨Air source: Absolutely essential! A flat repair doesn't do much good if you can't put air back into the tire. A mini pump or CO₂ inflator are both options.
🎒Something to carry it all: Consider a small frame bag, saddle bag, or other compact storage solution so your repair essentials are always with you.
Park Tool offers a convenient bundled kit containing many of these essentials, and we currently have them in stock at the shop.
🚲COMING THIS FALL!
We're currently in the planning stages of hosting our first ABC's of Bike Maintenance class in October!
We'll cover this topic along with many other basic bike-maintenance subjects, and we'll also demonstrate how to properly remove and install a tube and tire.
Keep an eye out for the date and time once we have everything confirmed. We'd love to have you join us!
Ride prepared. Ride confident. Keep riding!🤘🚲
