St. Andrews Soccer Club will be hosting Supplemental Tryouts on August 4 & 6 for players who are still searching for a competitive soccer home. If you’re looking for a club that prioritizes player development, strong coaching, and a positive culture, we’d love to have you come train with us. You can register at standrewssoccerclub.com/registration If you have already been offered a roster spot you do not need to sign up for supplemental tryouts. 😁

🇺🇸 Every great story starts with a small group of people who believe things can be better.

Nearly 250 years ago, that belief helped shape a nation.

Just two years ago, a handful of families shared a much smaller dream. They believed our community deserved another opportunity. A place where players could develop, compete, grow, and simply fall in love with the game.

Today, that dream belongs to hundreds of players, parents, coaches, volunteers, and supporters. What started with a few has become something far bigger than any one person.

This Independence Day, we’re grateful for the freedom to dream, to build, and to invest in the next generation.

There are nights you plan for.

And then there are nights that somehow become memories before they’re even over.

The music drifted across the fields. Fireworks cracked somewhere in the distance. The lights stayed on just a little longer. Kids of every age, every background, every skill level, all chasing the same ball. Nobody cared who scored. Nobody cared what team you played for.

For a couple of hours, they just had fun.

It reminded me of The Sandlot—that feeling that “every summer was great… but none of them ever came close to that first one.”

Maybe that’s why open play matters so much.

Because years from now, these kids probably won’t remember the score from some random league game.

But they’ll remember summer nights with friends. They’ll remember laughing until it got dark. They’ll remember hearing fireworks while the game kept going. They’ll remember that, for just a little while, the rest of the world disappeared.

“Man… this is [soccer]. You gotta stop thinking. Just have fun.”

And it felt exactly the way childhood is supposed to feel.

When we announced the hiring of Michael McCumbers as our new Boys Director of Development, we talked about investing in proven leaders who know how to build successful programs.

Coach McCumbers recently led North Bay Haven to the best season in program history, including the school’s first district championship, first Sweet 16 appearance, and was recognized as Bay County Soccer Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 season.

Success like that doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from culture, consistency, and a relentless focus on player development.

That’s exactly why we’re excited to have him leading the next chapter of our boys program at St. Andrews Soccer Club.

First, congratulations to William Abel-Lance the winner of our 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 Raffle! We can’t wait to see you experience England vs. DR Congo live at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Thank you to everyone who entered and helped make this raffle such a success.

While one person won the tickets, our entire community came together for something even more important.

Together, we raised just under $1,000 to support the Roell family and Misha’s courageous battle against cancer. St. Andrews Soccer Club is proud to round that total up and make it an even $1,000 donation.
