FADC Alumni Spotlight:
From Student to Teacher 🩰
Some dancers leave the studio, but the studio never leaves them.
As we celebrate 30 years of Florida Arts & Dance Company, we're sharing the stories of the dancers who grew up with us and the memories that continue to shape their lives.
For this alumna, FADC was truly a family affair!
Kaileigh’s Mom was a dedicated backstage volunteer, always helping the dancers and staff. Her Dad, Ken, and brother, Jon, joined her in numerous Nutcracker performances, creating memories that extended well beyond the stage. From practicing at home with Dad to convincing her brother to partner her and even getting him to attend a Pas de Deux workshop; dance was something the whole family shared.
One memory that has stayed with her is the morning she became ill before a recital. Rather than letting her miss the experience, her FADC family rallied around her. Dancers and staff created a cozy resting spot just offstage, and when it was time for her performance, the wings were lined with fellow dancers cheering her on.
That's what being part of a dance family is all about.
Kaileigh’s love of dance continued well beyond her childhood years, leading her to dance semi-professionally and discover another passion; teaching.
And today, her story has come full circle.
She is back at FADC, this time as an instructor, sharing the same love of dance with her own students that was nurtured in her all those years ago.
In her words:
"I hope to create the same love I have for dance in my students here!"
From Kaileigh’s first dance steps to performing alongside her family, and now helping young dancers discover their own potential, her journey represents everything we hope to give our students.
