Please join us in congratulating our OHSABC September Athletes of the Month!
Grayson Oldson — Boys Golf - Nominated by Coach Howell
Grayson has been playing golf for only about a year and a half, but his improvement, work ethic and enthusiasm for the game have been remarkable. He has earned a place in our varsity lineup through his willingness to listen, learn and work consistently at becoming a better player.
At the two-day Titan Invitational, Grayson demonstrated the resilience and competitive character we want from an Oviedo golfer. After opening with an 88, he returned the following morning and improved by eight shots, shooting an 80. His final round included 10 greens in regulation, 32 putts, only one penalty stroke and no doubles or worse. His score counted toward our team total and helped us improve our second-round score by four shots.
What distinguishes Grayson is more than his performance. He has a tremendous heart, genuinely loves golf and wants to learn everything he can about the game. He accepts coaching, asks questions and continues competing regardless of how a round is going. His attitude and rapid development have made him an important part of our team.
And Brielle Drehoff
Nominated by coach MacCracken for Girls Golf
Brielle comes to my mind instantly as someone who deserves the OHSABC Athlete of the Month award from Girls Golf. She is new to the team as a freshman and she has taken the lead on giving her teammates helpful tips while out on the course during practices. She shows up on time and puts forth a great effort each day. In addition, she is very encouraging to each teammate she is placed with. It is very hot on the course most days and Brielle shows a genuine enthusiasm and excitement for the sport.
