I had the amazing opportunity to drive this weekend in the 2026 Thunder on the Snake Jet Boat Marathon race! No way to give enough thanks to boat owner and long time friend Roger Hovland who was navigator for the weekend. Pit boss Darin Gleich.
We had a few simple goals; Don't peel your head off, don't mame yourself, don't sink the boat, don't be "that guy", and don't finish dead last. Mission accomplished, after a couple of speeding penalties and one for jumping the start. Finished 4th in our EVO class. Improved our time by 15 minutes Sunday vs our Saturday time, getting comfortable with what the boat is capable of and pushing it faster through the rough stuff.
To the group of rafters we weaved through in the middle of the last rapid upstream on Sunday I can't wait to see the GoPro footage of your expressions! Lol.
I can't put into words how much fun this was! I think we are hooked and the boat name "fully addicted" definitely fits.
Huge shout out to all of the folks in the racing community who quickly became friends! You will probably never meet a group more helpful and supportive anywhere.
