Classic Weekend and the finale to our season has come and gone, and while it wasn’t the finish we were racing toward, we’re still grateful for the chance to be part of it.

Friday practice had us chasing the car from the start. We couldn’t find the speed we needed, and she was incredibly loose. After time trialing 12th out of 26 cars, we unloaded back at the garage and tore her apart Saturday morning. We knew we had a better car than what we had shown, and we were determined to get to the bottom of it.

We found a few things we were certain had been steering us in the wrong direction, so we unloaded Sunday morning confident that we finally had our car back underneath us. Unfortunately, racing had other plans. After talking with several drivers—both in our class and others—it sounded like many of us were fighting the same uphill battle with the tires.

After 60 long laps, we crossed the line exactly where we started: 12th. Of course, we wanted more from our Classic, but after a season filled with wrecks, repairs, and more twists and turns than the Speedway itself, we’re incredibly thankful to have the car home and in one piece.

This season has tested us in just about every way possible. Because of that, we’ve made the difficult decision to hang up the helmet for the year and sit out the John Burr Classic/ Ray Hedger Memorial Weekend at Evans Mills. That decision hurts—Evans Mills is one of our favorite places—but right now, it’s time to pump the brakes, tear the car apart, and go through her from nose to tail.

This may not be where we pictured the checkered flag falling on our season, but we aren’t giving up. Sometimes you have to pull into the pits, regroup, and make the changes needed to come back faster and stronger.

For now, the 62 is officially tucked away for her winter hibernation. She has plenty of work ahead of her, but we know she’ll be more than ready—and excited—to show her face again when spring rolls around.

Thank you to our crew for refusing to quit, our sponsors for staying in our corner, and every friend, family member, and fan who supported the 62 through every high, low, wreck, repair, and comeback this season. Your support kept us fueled when we felt like we were running on empty.

The helmet may be hanging up for now, but the race is far from over. We’ll see you in the spring.

Classic Weekend hits a little differently this year.

This season has tested us in more ways than we ever expected. Week after week, we’ve faced setbacks, long nights in the garage, and moments that could’ve taken the wind out of our sails—but quitting has never been part of our setup. We kept digging, kept turning wrenches, and kept coming back with one thing on our minds: the win.

Through every twist, turn, and caution flag, we’ve had an incredible group of people in our corner. To our crew, sponsors, friends, family, and fans—thank you for sticking with us, believing in us, and showing up every single week. When the road got rough, you reminded us why we keep chasing that checkered flag. We truly wouldn’t be here without you.

Good luck to all of our fellow competitors. It’s an honor to share the track with you on the biggest weekend of the year.

The work is done, the car is ready, and our hearts are all in. It’s time to leave it all on the track.

Happy Classic Weekend from all of us at Shuman Racing. Let’s make this one count. 🏁

What a way to close out the regular season!

After spending another week in the garage making adjustments, we rolled out for warmups and finally had the car we knew was underneath us. We turned an 18.7 in practice and pulled it in feeling confident about the night ahead.

DJ started fourth in the heat and finished third, earning us a fifth-place starting spot for the 30-lap feature. Unfortunately, we got tangled up with another car on the initial green and were turned around, leaving us with a bent trailing arm. After a season filled with rebuilding, it happened to be the one part we hadn’t replaced—and we didn’t have a spare in the trailer.

For a moment, we thought our night was over. But in true racing-family fashion, several people immediately went to work finding what we needed. We got the car repaired and back on track just in time to rejoin at the rear of the field before the green dropped again.

DJ drove his heart out, charging from 12th to 5th in the first 10 laps. We struggled a little after that, but kept digging and crossed the line in THIRD for our final race of the regular season!

A huge shoutout to Brad Haynes for hooking us up with exactly what we needed to finish the feature, and to the extra hands from Griffin Miller’s pit stall who jumped in to help during the caution. We truly could not have done it without all of you.

Our thoughts are also with our friend Drew Pascuzzi, who was involved in the wreck on the initial green and was taken to the hospital. We’re thinking of you, Drew, and hoping for a quick recovery.

As always, thank you to all of our sponsors, fans, friends and family who continue to stand behind Shuman Racing. The car is unloaded, and now it’s time to prepare for the big one.

See everyone at Classic!

The 62 crew has worked tirelessly this week, tearing the car apart and going through it inch by inch. We found and fixed a few things, and tomorrow we’re hoping to shake her down at Fast Friday.

The goal is simple—put in the work, find the speed, and come back stronger for a better Saturday night.

A huge thank you to our sponsors, family, friends, and fans who continue to stand behind us through the highs and lows. Your support keeps us digging, and we couldn’t do this without you. We’re ready to see what she’s got! 🏁

Not the weekend we were looking for.

Luck just hasn’t been on our side lately, and this weekend was another tough one for the 62 Shuman Racing team.

During our heat race, an attempt to make a pass for the lead meant we had to back off going into Turn 3. That sent us into a spin and into the inside hub. After taking a look, we found the frame had broken right where we made contact, forcing us to park it for the rest of the heat.

But that’s where the racing family really showed up. With the help of a few teams in the pit area, we were able to get our hands on a welder and get the car repaired and ready to go for the feature. We can’t thank those guys enough for stepping up when we needed it.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and a rain delay pushed the feature to Sunday.

Starting dead last, we were confident we could make our way forward and put together a charge toward the front. Unfortunately, the car just wasn’t what we wanted or needed it to be. While trying to avoid another car, we ended up spinning and making contact with the foam, bringing an early end to our night.

Now it’s back to the garage.

This week will be spent getting the 62 back to where she needs to be and ready to hit the track Saturday for Mr. SBS. We know what this car is capable of, and we’re going to keep digging until we get back there. 💪🏁

A huge THANK YOU to all of our sponsors who continue to stand behind us, our friends and family who travel to the track every weekend to support this team, and everyone who jumped in and helped us out in a pinch Saturday night.

The results might not be what we want right now, but we’re not done yet. See you Saturday.🏁🔥
