The Drag Race for a Cure (DRC) was started by David Pike in 2015 when he decided to honor a young hero who was close to his heart.
Kayla passed away from Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at a very young age. He honored Kayla’s fight by dedicating the first Annual DRC in her name! This race hit home for David because his daughter also suffers from CF and the fight to find a cure is important to him! In 2016, the DRC raised awareness and funds for both the CF Foundation in Central Florida and for the Autism Foundation of Central Florida. T
his year’s event brought in over 200 race cars and over 500 spectators. The event brought representatives from Cystic Fibrosis and Autism to share the awareness. Activity from the pits and the drag strip brought interaction through the DRC page to over 12,000 people during the few days leading up to the event and the days following the event! The DRC event raised $17,000 to split between the Cystic Fibrosis and Autism foundations! The 2017 Annual event looks to grow even more and we look forward to expanding our awareness and funds to also include St. Jude’s Children Hospital and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation!
