At 44, I stopped trying to shrink myself—and started trying to support myself.

When I focused on how I wanted to FEEL (energized, strong, sexy), the weight started coming off naturally.

Stop asking, “How can I lose weight?”

Start asking, “How can I nourish my energy, rebuild my strength, and feel confident again?”

Your body will follow.

✨ DM “SHIFT” for my 3 favorite mindset shifts that keep myself and my clients going when things are rough and progress is slow.

Why I Don’t Use a Weighted Vest (and you probably don’t need to either 😉)

👉🏼You’ve seen the trend: walking around the neighborhood wearing what looks like tactical gear, all in the name of “fitness.”

Let me break down why I skip the weighted vest — and what I recommend instead.

👎 “But it boosts bone density!”

✅ Sure… but so does lifting weights.

And spoiler: lifting weights does it lots better. Your bones need that resistance and loading from strength training. Strapping on a vest for your walk isn’t doing it.

👎 “It makes my walk more intense!”

✅ True… but isn’t the whole point of walking that it’s low intensity?

Walking is magical for stress reduction, cortisol management, recovery, and general movement. Why ruin those benefits by increasing intensity?

👎 “It’s harmless, right?”

✅ Not always. Weighted vests can cause strain on your back, shoulders, and joints—especially if your posture isn’t perfect or you already have aches & pains.

Walking should feel good, not like you’re auditioning for a Navy SEALs movie.

💡 When WOULD I use a weighted vest?

If your goal is cardio for heart health or weight loss, and your fitness level is such that a brisk walk no longer gets your heart rate up? Then, sure — adding some weight might make sense.

But if you’re wearing it to “get more out of your walk” without a clear reason? Better to focus on walking as recovery, and save the intensity for your workouts.

✨ So lift weights for your bones.
✨ Walk for your mind and recovery.
✨ Save the vest for when it actually fits the goal.

I know this is controversial… what’s your take on this debate? Let me know! Is it a yay or nay to the vest from you?
