The M.O.D. dive crew enjoyed a great day of refresher dives for several of our dive family today at BHB. Great times with great folks. Water temp was 83’ and visibility just before high tide was 25’+. Thanks to everyone for a fun afternoon of getting wet! 🤿

🌊 Healthy reefs tell a story.

And the more we understand what’s happening beneath the surface, the better we can protect it.

Right now, Sunrise City Eco Alliance, Inc. is in the planning and development stages of building future volunteer-driven reef initiatives here along the Treasure Coast and surrounding waters.

At this time, we are:
✔️ Gaining interest
✔️ Building our volunteer network
✔️ Connecting with divers, captains, and supporters
✔️ Researching logistics, safety, and planning
✔️ Working toward future events and organized dives later this summer

Nothing is officially scheduled yet — and we want to be transparent about that every step of the way. Our goal is to do one or two events this summer, once we have all our T's crossed and I's dotted 🩵

As we continue building, planned dive efforts will focus on a combination of:

🪸 Reef research & observation
🐟 Lionfish removal
🗑️ Underwater debris cleanup
📋 Data collection & documentation

Divers may eventually be assigned to different roles during organized dives depending on experience, certification level, and operational needs.

We’re also hoping to connect with:
🚤 Captains with vessels interested in supporting dive operations
🤿 Research-minded divers and underwater photographers/videographers
🛟 Surface support, land crew, and safety volunteers
🌿 Ocean advocates who simply want to help protect our waters

Part of this mission is collaboration — learning more about our reefs, documenting what we see, and helping contribute useful information that supports long-term awareness and conservation efforts.

As Sunrise City Eco Alliance continues moving toward our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, fundraising efforts will also help support future operational needs like fuel assistance, safety resources, cleanup supplies, and responsible event planning.

This is still the beginning.
But the foundation matters.

And we’re building it carefully, intentionally, and with the right people around us. 🌊✨

Always have to make time to hit Gray Quarry and Smoky Mountain Divers, Inc. while in TN. Nothing but friendly folks and service, and we finally saw the Paddlefish on this trip! 🤿

Even though they’re a year behind, it’s still nice to be recognized…although now I feel really old! 25+ years and counting sharing the joy of SCUBA with others. From the frigid waters of Germany, to man-made lakes in Iraq, from the Red Sea to both of the Florida coasts, I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. Absolutely love my students of all skill levels and watching your progression and love for Mother Ocean grow!
