East Orange Crush Baseball

We are taking it easy on Travel Tournaments for the Fall. We encourage our athletes to play multiple sports and as such East Orange Crush is looking to add 2-3 players for our Fall Cobra team. Please reach out if you have a player interested for a private tryout.

*Day 5 and 6 Cooperstown Updates*

Day 5
Crush entered bracket play as the 43rd seed out of 104 teams. This put us in the 3rd round waiting on 89 vs 90th seeds winner vs 58th seed.

We ended up facing the 89th seed from Maryland and winning our first bracket game 9-6! The biggest highlight of the game was in the 4th inning where we scored 6 runs on 6 hits by Rocco, Mason, Landon, Jaxsen, Jeremy, and Antonio. Antonio’s was a 2 run Homer!

Our next opponent was a strong 22 seed from Pittsburgh. It was hard to keep up as they had 4 home runs against our pitchers. Crush had 3 of our own by Antonio, Rocco, and Jeremy! We took the L well and finished the tournament with our heads held high. The 22 seed ended up beating the 11th seed the next round before losing.

3-2 in pool play and 1-1 in bracket play. We exceeded our expectations and content with the outcome.

Tournament MVP - Jaxsen who batted .789 with 15 hits nearly doubling our next batter, 8 RBIs, accounted for 10 runs, 10 stolen bases and struck out only once all tournament. He also stepped on the mound for a 3 up 3 down inning.

Day 6
Closing Ceremonies - Received our rings and then watched fireworks.

Championship game - #4 Beaver Valley Red took the ship with a convincing win over the 15 seed from GA.

Last time on the 12u field for Crush. It’s been a great journey for these boys, but there’s more to come for them on the big field.

***Day 4 Cooperstown Update ***

Started out with a bang scoring 22 runs. Highlights of the game begin with Rocco, Antonio, and Jax all going 2 for 2 along with Cam hitting 3 for 3 with a Home Run! Coewyn got a taste of the mound for us and also hit a Home Run.

A little bit of a let down in our 5th pool play game where we committed 6 errors as a team. We fought back to tie it up 7-7 where Mason started the rally with an RBI single and Grant tied it up for us with one as well. Just wasn’t enough as we fell short 7-9.

We go into bracket play as the 43rd seed out of 104 teams and play 2pm today. Win and we keep moving on.

**Cooperstown Dreams Park Update**

EO Crush is 2-1 going into Day 3 of pool play. After a tough loss on Day 1, our boys bounced back to win 2 on Day 2.

Major Highlights for the first 3 games:

7 Home Runs - Jalen, Jeremy, Landon, Marcus each with 1, and Bobby hitting 3 bombs out today all on day 2!

Jaxsen leads our offense batting 8 for 10!

Marcus has been a force on the mound striking out 10 batters so far!

Great defensive plays have been made, but we know we have some cleaning up to do.

We have 2 remaining pool play games tomorrow before bracket play starts Thursday.

It’s ALMOST TIME! ⚾️ Cooperstown here we come!

Space Coast Mother’s Day Classic Runner Up…..

First, a big Thank You to all the mom’s who sacrificed their special day for the boy’s tournament weekend.

It wasn’t the result we wanted, but ended up with our best showing so far playing in the Space Coast complex. Ended up 3-1 on the weekend. Very proud of the growth these boys have shown while grinding out close games. While our bats weren’t awake, our fielding and pitching were on point which lead us to the #1 seed going into bracket play.

Tournament Game MVPs:

Game 1 - #4 Rocco K for Commanding the mound. 3 innings pitched, 1 hit, 0 Runs, 1 BB, and 2 Ks. 39 total pitches.

Game 2 - #8 Mason D for a clutch RBI double to tie the game. 2 total runs scored. Locking 2nd base down all tournament with 100% fielding percentage on 16 out of 16 total chances.

Games 3 and 4 - #18 Jaxsen M for 2 doubles and a triple batting .500 on the day with 3 stolen bases. 12 innings caught behind the plate.

We will continue to work and get better! The grind never stops.

Next up for EO Crush - CFL USSSA Memorial Day Classic in Oviedo.

And just over 60 days until Cooperstown!

Champions again! Last weekend these boys showed what being resilient is all about. 5-0 for the weekend and winning the Championship game 16-11 against a really good Jacksonville team who jumped out on us multiple times. These boys did not give up being down 6-11 and storming back! Proud of these boys is an understatement. And most importantly, the growth and development our coaches saw those 2 days was amazing. Go Crush!

Side note:
I would say, the most satisfying win was the semi-final game. Parents need to let the players play. Let the players chirp. Let the umps do their job. When parents are clapping while a pitch is thrown and yelling drop it on a pop fly trying to affect my players, that’s where the line is drawn. Just be a fan. It’s not that serious. Competitiveness is great, but with respect. I do appreciate the other team’s first baseman, he’s going to go far in life and in baseball. Other players saying we got lucky while shaking their hands…..wow just wow. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Do better parents.
