Fear of failure is one of the most limiting things a child can carry.
Often without meaning to, adults reinforce it.
When we only celebrate wins, kids learn failure is something to avoid. So they stop attempting things they might fail at.
Growth stops there too.
At BLK Orem we teach the opposite lesson on purpose. Failure is information, not identity.
When a student misses a technique, there's no shame. We correct the mechanics.
Explain what happened. Run it again.
No drama. Just feedback and another rep.
This is Kaizen, one of our 8 Values, and it's the foundation of how we coach, how we teach, how we live.
Over time it changes how a child talks to themselves. Instead of "I'm bad at this," they learn "I missed it, I can fix it."
That shift carries into school, friendships, and life long after they leave the mat.
