The Kodokan tradition is a living legacy, transmitted through generations of distinguished masters: from Jigoro Kano (1860–1938), Founder of Kodokan Judo, through Takahiko Ishikawa (1917–2008), distinguished Judo master and tradition keeper, to his student Harold “Hal” E. Sharp (1927–2021), teacher, author, historian, and devoted bearer of the Kodokan heritage.

"A Noble Record of Transmission" Year 2000
In the year 2000, Kunin Sensei was honored to receive the subsequent transmission of the Daitō-ryū Hiden Mokuroku from Hanshi John DeNora (1930–2008).
This solemn transmission stands as a testament to the preservation of tradition, the continuity of lineage, and the sacred responsibility entrusted from teacher to successor.
