What an incredible honor it was for me to be able to promote Easton to brown belt tonight. When Easton first came to me I could see so much talent in him. He was one of those guys who you knew could do anything he wanted to do. What he has become is unbelievable. We have worked so hard and I am so blessed to be apart of this journey. Congratulations to my brother, student, and friend Doc Ryan on achieving his Black Belt. He came to me as a brand new student and showed what someone who is dedicated and determined can accomplish with hard work!!!! We sat and talked for a while afterwards and he told me a story about how he felt as a white belt and it truly moved me. I am so happy for you my friend on this amazing accomplishment now

I can not properly describe how emotional yesterday was for me!! I never had a money man, a partner, or any help. All I had was a dream to give back something that has given so much to me. When I decided to put everything I had into my dream I was certain that when I turned the lock for the first time at my new school I would be busy…………….I was not. I had a few adults come in. I had zero kids show up. I was VERY NERVOUS for the first year but I never gave up on my dream. Yesterday I was able to look at so many people who have blessed me with the opportunity to share what has made me a better person. I can not begin to express how grateful I am to all of you.

To those who train with me I hope that you know how important you are to me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I promise that I will always strive to be a better Professor to all of you. I will always continue to learn and compete so that I can lead from the front. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU ON YOUR PROMOTIONS!!!!! 🔥 🔥

Thank you so much to my brother, Professor Henrique Macarrao for an amazing seminar. If I could have anyone’s knowledge of the De La Riva it would be yours. I hope someday to be 1/2 as good as you!!!

Houston Alexander headlining bare knuckle boxing in 2 weeks, Sean Wilson is your Co-Main event bare knuckle MMA, and I am competing a week after them. What a great weekend it’s been for Omaha's Academy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Bellevue Academy BJJ here at the 2026 IBJJF M/S Worlds Jiu Jitsu tournament so far. Everyone has fought their hearts out and left it on the mat. One more day with 2 more competitors to go and I am super excited for them.

I remember several years ago I woke up at 4:30am to get to the airport in Omaha. I flew out at 7am to Vegas to coach this young man and then turned around and got back on a plane to head home that same day and I would do it anytime Elian needed me to be there. I have always believed in him and he has made me so proud. I am truly blessed to have him represent my academy.

Fast forward to today……..and here we are back in Vegas. Elian fought his ass off and showed true grit. He was in a deep submission and did not waiver. He showed composure and I knew he would not be denied. We win some and we lose some but we meet any challenge in front of us!!

Congratulations Elian on your 3rd place finish at the IBJJF NOGI CON. Enjoy your weekend my friend and let’s get back to work when we get home!!!!!
