It's Pitta season >>> hot, driven, "push harder" energy. But more intensity isn't what your nervous system needs right now. 🔥

Controlled load regulates the nervous system.

Uncontrolled intensity just adds fuel to an already-hot season.

Swipe to see the difference >>> and how to load smarter, not harder, through Pitta.

This is the foundation of how we teach loading, strength, and functional movement - in our student practice, our teacher trainings, and our CEUs.

-Why I Load My Practice: The Strength Science Behind the Methodology-

08/11/2026

You've heard it a hundred times. Go deeper. Push harder. One more inch. Don't stop now.

If you're the kind of mover who shows up for it - who chases the burn, chases the edge, chases the version of yourself that goes further every time ...this one's for you.

Because "further" and "deeper" are not the same thing. And the difference isn't just semantic. It's physiological.

Active vs. passive tissue work.
Passive stretching lengthens tissue temporarily - you sink into a shape, and the moment you leave it, that range starts to recede.

Active, loaded movement asks the muscle to control the range itself. The nervous system has to trust that range before it will let you keep it - which is why loaded, intentional work tends to build change that actually stays, instead of change you have to keep chasing.

Bone density doesn't respond to flexibility. It responds to load. Bone remodels in response to mechanical stress - a well-established principle in movement science (often referenced as Wolff's Law).

A deep, passive shape places very little demand on bone.

A body under intelligent, progressive load is telling bone tissue: stay strong here.

This matters for every body, but especially so with age and especially for women navigating hormonal shifts that already put bone density at risk.

Strength is built through progressive overload - not intensity for its own sake. Getting stronger isn't about how far a body can be pushed today. It's about a gradual, structured increase in demand that a body can actually adapt to and keep.

Skip the "gradual" part, and you're not building capacity ...you're borrowing it, often at the expense of connective tissue that adapts far slower than muscle does.

Shape is not the same as function.
A pose can look "deeper" while the muscles doing the actual work are checked out, and joints are absorbing load they were never meant to carry.

Function asks a different question: is this tissue doing its job, under control, in a range this body can actually own? That question matters more than what a shape looks like from the outside.

You don't have to keep pushing to keep progressing. You have to load it right.

✨A quick note on "load": it doesn't have to mean kettlebells or added weight - though that's a powerful tool too.
👇🏼👇🏼
Load can be
➡️tempo (slowing a movement down so the muscle can't cheat),
➡️end-range work (spending time in the outer edges of a range, where control actually lives),
➡️or simply leaning into the harder point of a movement for a beat before continuing.

Load is any intelligent demand placed on tissue that asks it to work - not just what you add, but how you move.

This is what we teach our students in practice, in our teacher trainings, and through our CEUs.

Plateaus feel like failure.

They're not...

they're an invitation to release the grip, not increase it.

Strength,
weight,
energy,
pose,
practice:

the season it's in isn't the season it stays in.

What are you ready to let go of? 🔥

Progressive load isn't just a strength principle
.. it's a relationship.

Loading my practice means slowing down enough to actually feel the layers I'm adding one by one, giving myself time in the movement to let my nervous system adapt, then meeting my edge instead of muscling past it.

Science calls it adaptive load. I call it devotion. 🕯️

Your jaw and your pelvic floor are in constant conversation. 🦷↔️🦋

Every clenched jaw ...

In traffic,
in a hard conversation,
during a workout

..sends a signal straight down to your pelvic floor through the vagus nerve.

Same nervous system loop, same tension pattern, just two different ends of your body.

This is why pelvic floor work has to start above the pelvis. (Kegels are part of the picture - just not the whole one.)

Real change starts with releasing the jaw, breathing fully, and teaching your whole nervous system it's safe to soften.

This is the foundation of Pelvic Power - our functional, breath-first approach to pelvic floor health in collaboration with Omaha OB-GYN Associates-Lakeside

Omaha yoga meets ancient wisdom: introducing Element of the Week.

Earth, water, fire, air, ether
➡️ the five elements Ayurveda says make up everything, including you.

At Warrior Sanctuary Collective, we're building a practice around them: one movement to embody the element, one journal prompt to explore it. No overwhelm. Just one relationship at a time.

We're starting with Air 💨 mobility, breath, the space inside every joint. Fitting, since our Wrist & Hand Workshop is this Saturday, July 25 at Karma Yoga Omaha.

If your wrists have been asking for more range, more ease, more air - this is built for them. Link in bio.

This week's practice: notice where your body already has space.

Journal prompt: where in my life do I need more air?

We teach the same posture three different ways

Not because we can't decide, but because your body isn't the same body every day it walks in.

Some days you need Durga: the ground beneath you, the permission to be gentle.

Some days you need Shakti: the charge, the direction, the "I am capable of this."

Some days you need Kali: the edge, the honesty, the willingness to let something burn off.

Malasana holds all three. So do you.

Which one is today? Tell us below. 👇

Yoga gets filed under "soft." Stretch, breathe, feel your feelings, done.

But there's a version of this practice that doesn't ask you to be gentle with your body...

It asks you to load it.
To make it work.
To find out what's actually underneath.

That's what Kaitlin's doing on the reformer >>> spring resistance, controlled load, nothing passive about it.

That's the annamaya kosha - yoga's word for the physical body, the outermost of five layers that make up a person. Not separate from your breath, your mind, your inner wisdom.

The doorway to all of it.

You don't get through a locked door by being soft with it. You knock. Hard enough to be heard.

Kaitlin loads the body on purpose >>> because resistance isn't the opposite of mindfulness. It's how the rest of you actually shows up.

What would you do if you loved change... but only when you were the one steering it?

If you know me, you know I love change. New ideas, new momentum, new direction …it keeps me going, it inspires me, it lights me up.

That's Pitta energy: fire, drive, transformation. Pitta doesn't just tolerate change, it craves it.

I'll admit it - I like control. I'm a Pitta and a Ta**us, so that's basically written into my nature. And honestly? That's okay.

The real work isn't getting rid of the fire → it's learning not to let it run to extremes.

A Pitta, by nature, is fire → and fire wants to control how the change happens. The pace, the terms, the outcome.

And when change shows up on someone else's timeline instead of mine? That's when the fire turns into friction.

I'm constantly practicing Santosha in my life (contentment, enoughness) and balancing it with Aparigraha (non-grasping, letting go of what isn't mine to hold).

Because the tighter I grip an outcome, the more exhausted and disconnected from myself I become.

Contentment isn't giving up on what I want → it's refusing to let the wanting run me into the ground.

This is where Warrior Sanctuary Collective's belief that Movement is Devotion becomes more than an intention for me - it's THE practice.

Devotion isn't intensity for intensity's sake. It's not gripping harder or forcing the outcome.

It's showing up with steady effort and letting the practice -- the pose, the moment, the decision -- be what it needs to be, not what I'm demanding it be.

Pitta's shadow side is extremes: all in or all out, control or collapse.

But the real practice, on the mat and off it, lives in effort without excess. Sthira and Sukha. Steadiness and ease, held together.

Can we still do the hard things -- chase the challenge, want the change -- and allow ease alongside it?

Can we hold the desire for transformation and stay open to input we didn't ask for?

This is why I'm so passionate about nervous system work integrated directly into the hard work. It's also why I believe yoga is more than stretching >>>
👉It's training the fire to burn steady instead of scorched-earth.
👉It's how we soften the grip on outcomes without losing the passion that makes us who we are.

What would you do if the change you wanted didn't come on your terms?
