Crucible (n): “A place or situation in which people are tested thoroughly.”

This weekend, our team came together for the first LŌKAHI Crucible. Through tough positions and hard rounds, we watched our teammates push, support, and celebrate the promotions of their fellow Collective members.

Some people want to sit on a beach. Others want to stare at the mountains. But for a bunch of mat-addicts, THIS is our happy place. Doors open with a gentle breeze blowing through, the sun streaming in through the windows, and the smell of clean mats and a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Oooooh yeah.

PS - Hoping everyone’s doing okay from this weekend’s storm system and wishing everyone a great start to your week 🙏🏻

May’s blog features our stand-out competitors at last month’s Nebraska Jiu-Jitsu tournament, photos from our Youth promotion celebration, and an invitation from Dr. Jarrell Garcia to participate in a unique and innovative study on the psychological impact of injuries suffered by Jiu-jitsu practitioners.

Wishing everyone a happy aloha Friday 🤙🏼

We believe that kids want to do things that challenge their minds and their bodies. It always impresses us how capable our young athletes truly are. And when you mix bright minds with a supportive environment, there’s no telling how high we can go.

Our Youth Jiu-Jitsu program is more than (just) organized chaos… it’s a lot of fun.

We’ve really been enjoying the nice weather lately … Coach Connor especially.

Fun fact: our back bay doors are also a great place for watching the local wildlife. If you’re lucky, you might even see the Addams family - a friendly group of raccoons who sometimes sit and watch us train 🦝.

Congratulations to Team LŌKAHI for a strong finish at the Nebraska Jiu-Jitsu Championships Spring Open this weekend!

The team earned the tournament trophy for Second highest in the Adult division, Third in the Kids division, and Third Overall. Best of all, we had a great group of supporters who showed up to cheer on our competitors, share in some great memories through the day, and join in some celebratory pho 🍲

Back to work on Monday as we prepare for Grappling Industries next month!
