Good morning, brothers and sisters! Sometimes, even on the most serene mornings, a sudden wave of heavy worry can cut through the stillness, making it feel almost impossible to choose a peaceful thought to start the day. It is incredibly easy to feel defeated in those moments, as if the day has been lost before it even begins.
But the very second you notice this worry, know that you haven't failed. There is no need to let a fleeting shadow pull you down. Instead, just stop for a moment, close your eyes, and connect with your breath. Breathe in pure peace, and breathe out the heavy weight of those lingering worries.
Allow yourself the grace to return home to your own heart. Your inner peace has not gone anywhere; it is simply resting beneath a passing cloud of worry, untouched and whole. The moment we anchor ourselves in serenity of pure awareness, the sky naturally clears, the sun breaks through, and we can step forward peacefully on our journey together.
Today is going to be our peaceful day.
May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace. π

The Depth of Life
When medieval monks were asked how they practiced their faith, they said, βBy falling down and getting up.β This is the human journey from which no one is exempt. We are constantly challenged to get up one more time than we fall, to open one more time than we close, and to put things together one more time than we take them apart. The Japanese proverb, Nanakorobi yaoki, puts it this way, βFall down seven times, stand up eight.β
This rhythm between fragility and resilience informs the practices that keep us human. Yet no one can give these practices to you. Each of us must discover and inhabit them for ourselves. This is why the heart of my teaching has always been a commitment to introduce you to your own gifts and wisdom. And so, [we] explore the perennial choice-points we all face such as surviving and thriving, managing risk and enhancing risk, opening and closing, giving and receiving, living a balance between solitude and community, enlarging our sense of things when pain and fear make us small, and the never-ending practice of course-correcting and tuning as we go.

Self-compassion means holding space for both the pain and the beauty of life, so we can enjoy it in all its bittersweet complexity.

βEach morning I think of one thing I'm grateful for. It might be the sound of rain or the smell of coffee.
Gratitude is not about the grand events-it's about noticing the small mercies that keep you alive inside."
