Update on the 2026 Scratch Draft League....

Bowlers the wait is over!

Introducing the Mockingbird Lanes Scratch Draft League for the 2026-2027 bowling season.

Over the last few weeks there has been some confusion as another center in town has decided to (rather than coming up with an idea on their own) essentially copy this league (same day, time, name, format, etc.) This has led to many questions such as:
1. Why is another center trying to run a league that is an exact copy of what you are already running?
2. Can't the other center come up with their own ideas?
3. Are they trying to steal your league?

The truth is I can't answer those questions as I am not sure myself. The truth is there is only one Scratch Draft League!

We have been contemplating for a couple years now on moving the Scratch Draft League to Thursday nights and decided at the end of last season that we would go ahead and do so for this upcoming season. A couple of reasons for this:
1. Our Wednesdays are extremely busy. In order to accommodate this league in the past we have to end high school practices and competitions early, start our early league earlier than they would like, and still not be able to get the Scratch League started on time.
2. Moving to Thursday nights will allow for an earlier start time. The Scratch League will now be a full hour earlier allowing bowlers to finish up around 10:30 instead of 11:30.

Below is the flyer for this year. This continues to be the best paying league in town. Here is why that is:
1. $20 per bowler per week to the prize fund
2. No secretary fee (bowling center provides for free)
3. Mockingbird Lanes adds $1000 to the prize fund. Other leagues will tell you they have "sponsors". We don't need sponsors as we are already adding money!

All that leads to an average payout of $580 per bowler at the end of the season
