Keynote Speaker on Engagement & Workplace Value | Author & Military Spouse

07/11/2026

Not even five years ago, I was facilitating a virtual workshop for two people.

I remember hoping that one day I’d have more opportunities to share these ideas with more people. Ideas about the value of people, how we engage with one another at work, and how every person has something valuable to contribute.

The things I once hoped for are now things I get to experience, and yet, I still catch myself thinking about what’s next. That’s the interesting thing about growth, the dream you once worked toward becomes the foundation for the next dream.

I won't forget that there was a version of me who would be amazed to see where I am today, but I also don’t want to stop building, learning, and reaching for what’s next.

What is something your past self would be proud to see you doing today?

On this mini live stream we briefly dive into why your best employees don't always look like the best best employees. Workplace value takes many forms, let's talk about what some of that value may look like.

What if employee engagement isn’t something leaders create?

What if it’s something everyone contributes to and nurture the environment for it?

In nature, ecosystems don’t survive because of one role, they survive because energy and responsibility is shared.

Are you confusing a happy employee with an engaged one?

We talk about employee engagement all the time, but what if we're not all talking about the same thing?

Many leaders assume that if an employee loves their job, enjoys their coworkers, or shows excitement at work, they must be highly engaged. But are job satisfaction and employee engagement really the same thing?

In this livestream, LaPora Lindsey explores the difference between loving your job and feeling connected to the organization’s goals and mission. We'll discuss why employees can enjoy aspects of their work while still struggling to see how their contributions connect to the bigger picture, and why that distinction matters for leaders, teams, and organizations.

Join the conversation as we unpack common misconceptions about engagement, explore what the term means, and discuss why understanding the difference may change how we think about workplace value and culture altogether.

I'm on a mission to partner with organizations to close the contribution gap—the space between what employees do every day and what the organization is trying to achieve.

On my YouTube channel, I share frameworks on workplace value, engagement, and systems thinking.

I'm at 31 subscribers and looking for the next 50 leaders, managers, HR professionals, and workplace practitioners who believe better systems create better outcomes.

Most people think their value is fixed, but workplace value is contextual.

And to be clear, self-worth is not what I’m talking about, you are are always worth as a person. That is non-negotiable.

What I’m referring to is how value is translated in the workplace: how your contribution is perceived, received, and understood by others.

I learned this the hard way in a nonprofit setting where I walked in focused on correcting problems, and left realizing the most valuable thing I brought wasn’t what I thought it was.

It wasn’t about doing more. It was about translating and that is essential to engagement, collaboration, and impact at work.

If your team is navigating issues with engagement, communication, or how individual value shows up at work, I’d be glad to connect.

Who is responsible for saving whom?

In the workplace, when a problem surfaces like decreased engagement, we often look for someone to blame.
-We blame leaders.
-We blame the person who raised the issue.
-We blame the bystanders who didn't step in.

One reason I enjoy speaking and facilitating workshops is that I get to challenge the idea that change or workplace value belongs to a certain title, role, or person. Change can happen when each of us recognizes the part we play.

When we're part of a system, it can be difficult to see our own influence. But once we understand our sphere of influence, and how our actions affect others, we can start making adjustments that create momentum in the dynamics of the entire workplace ecosystem.
