Fall weather is coming! 🍂 Last week gave us a little reminder that we do, in fact, live in the Northwest. Enjoy these warm September days while they last!

Want to build your own custom fishing rod?

I’m doing a small-group, 2-day rod building workshop at the Prolite shop.

You’ll come in and actually build your own rod with me.

Before the workshop, we’ll figure out what you want to build and pick out the blank, grips, reel seat, guides, colors and components. Then over the two days I’ll walk you through the same process I use building Prolite rods every day.

We’ll cover the whole build, guide layout, wrapping, epoxy, decals, finishing, and a lot of the little things that make a rod come out right.

I keep these groups small so I can actually work with everyone and answer questions as we go.

$250 for both days, plus whatever blank and components you choose for your rod.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to build rods, this is probably the best way I know how to teach it.

Fish with a rod you built yourself.

Next week, September 17 & 18

Apparently the net man saw my last video and said, “I can do worse.”

How are we grading this one?

Can’t wait to post his follow up video: “Let me try again, I got it this time.” 😂

Public opinion needed: did I drop the rod tip… or did the net man just flat-out miss the fish? 😂🎣

When they start sharking around on the surface, you know it’s getting good. 😂🎣

Keep the pressure on and enjoy the ride.

A straight guide doesn't happen by accident.

Before a rod ever leaves our shop, every guide is checked, aligned, and checked again. We sight down the blank from multiple angles, making small adjustments until everything is exactly where it should be.

It's a detail many anglers may never notice—but it's one we refuse to overlook.
Because when every guide is perfectly aligned, your rod performs the way it was designed to.

The details you never see are often the ones that matter most.

Buoy 10 is officially doing Buoy 10 things.
Rod buried, boats everywhere, and salmon moving through the river. This is one of my favorite times of the year.

If you’re headed down, make sure your gear is ready. These fish will find the weak link.

Who’s fishing Buoy 10 this year?
