This month is always a doozy. And the exhaustion kinda creeps up on you sometimes, so let me say this loud and clear:

You DO NOT NEED external permission to rest.
You DO NOT NEED to finish the to do list before you rest.
You DO NOT NEED to complete a certain number of tasks before you rest.

I'll wake you up when September ends.

Samasthiti. Equal standing. Balanced stillness. A call to attention, to reset and focus on the present moment.

It's not a posture. It is the purpose of all the postures.

I taught a class last week with some postures that I rarely incorporate into my teaching or my practice. Later in the day I chose a yoga class recording from another teacher to use for my personal practice.

I kid you not, the sequence was so similar it was a bit unnerving.

The title of the class also happened to be something about the weather and the sky -- and literally during my practice the wind picked up and I had to shut all the windows to keep the storm from damaging the screens or letting rain into the porch

Alignment is the word that a fellow yoga teacher used about my experience. And they're right. Everything about my experience seemed orchestrated, right down to the random 1/2 frog pose with sphinx.

Have you ever had an experience like this???
What did you learn or gain from it??

PS - still trying to find the meaning from the whole thing....the universe might need to send me a bigger sign🤣

Rebuilding a habit is easier than starting from scratch. But it still takes effort.

If you've been neglecting your movement practice routines over the summer, now is the time to begin again.

Mark your calendar.
Prep the clothes and the props.
Tell your family you'll be gone.
Make YOURSELF a priority.

Join us for class AND send me a DM if you need a little help getting re-started.

I'll see you on the mat!

🎪It is my circus. And they are my monkeys 🙈

The conditions around me during my yoga practice are never perfect. On this particular day it was the dog, my oldest learning to mow the lawn, and my husband in and out of the porch trying to help her (in addition to ME pausing my practice to help her too).

The list could go on....but the point is, there will ALWAYS be interruptions to your practice, even in the most ideal setting.

😵‍💫someone will arrive late or have to leave early
😵‍💫a water bottle will get knocked over
😵‍💫someone who fidgets or struggles to be still makes a commotion during savasana

The entire practice of yoga is to find your sense of calm and equanimity DESPITE the interruptions and perturbations -- whether they are external or internal.

Take a deep breath and just accept what is here right now. Create your own inner peace despite all the things trying to throw you off balance.
