Master Blevins and the Blue Wave Main School invite you to join us for the 2026 Fall St. Louis Gateway Championships on Saturday, November 7th. The event will be held at the St. Theodore Gymnasium, 5051 Highway P in Wentzville, directly across from the Main School.

For the first time in many years, competitors will have the opportunity to participate in Forms and Sparring on the same day. Many newer students in our Association have not had the opportunity to participate in this type of competition. So, in addition for readying yourself for the sparring brackets, please prepare and fine-tune your competition form.

Whether you are an experienced competitor or entering your first tournament, we encourage you to participate, support your fellow students, and represent your school.

Divisions will be organized according to age and rank so you will be competing against students who have similar experience. Please speak with your instructor if you have any questions about tournament preparation, appropriate divisions, equipment, or competition rules. On Tournament day, doors open at 7am, Overview of rules will be at 8am, and the Competition will commence at 8:30am. Please be ready in uniform. Because there are 2 parts to the Tournament Day, please pay attention to announcements for your ring assignments throughout the day.

Tournament Weekend gives us opportunities that don't happen every day. In addition to your own performance, please watch, support, and learn from the other competitors. Your goal should not simply be to win an award. But to add more layers to your martial arts training and experience.

The day doesn't have to end when the competition does! Competitors, instructors, families, and friends are invited to join us afterward for dinner at Fiesta Hill Saturday evening. The restaurant is conveniently located just across the street from the tournament venue and directly in front of the Main School. It's a great opportunity to relax, visit with friends from the other schools, and finish the tournament day together.

We are screaming CONGRATULATIONS to our newest Black Belt!! 5 years of hard work conclude with one sweaty and SMASHING moment!

Before that we saw Hank gut through all of the forms he knows for his high brown exam- this means we will see Hank in the near future take his Black Belt exam and he will prepare over the next 6-12 months for that moment!

Congratulations to all! See you in class and as always- Train Hard!!

Black Belt/High Brown Exam Information:

-This weekend’s Black Belt Exam will take place Saturday, May 9th at 2pm at Master Blevins’ school: 5076 Highway P 63385

-Doors will open at 1pm. Testing candidates should plan to arrive no later than 1:30pm to provide ample time to warm up and sign their test forms. High Brown candidates will not need to sign any test forms.

-Spectators are welcome! There will be seating available on both sides of the training floor. Please remove street shoes before crossing the training floor.

-Before the exam begins, please silence all cell phones and turn off camera flashes.

-No food or drink is permitted inside the studio. There is a patio area available outside for student and family use.

-Black Belt candidates should not begin selecting their boards until instructed to do so by Master Blevins or a member of the leadership team.

-1st and 2nd Degree Black Belts who are not testing should plan to attend the exam in uniform and be ready to hold boards.

-The exam will be live-streamed in our private discussion group. Please have any students or family members who wish to view the exam via the livestream request to join the group by Saturday morning. The social media team will not be available to approve requests to join the group once exam setup has started.
