There are several important lessons here.
First, marksmanship matters. There is a persistent myth that private citizens only need to train at three to seven yards because “that’s where defensive shootings happen.” Reality doesn’t care about averages. You don’t get to choose the distance, the background, or the circumstances. You prepare for the problem in front of you, not the statistical average.
Second, competence also means knowing your limitations. Every responsible armed citizen should know, with complete honesty, what shots they can make consistently and, just as importantly, which shots they should not attempt. Good judgment is every bit as important as good marksmanship. Sometimes the right decision is to shoot. Sometimes the right decision is to move, seek cover, protect others, or wait for a better opportunity. Capability includes the discipline to recognize the difference.
Finally, this incident is a reminder of why responsible concealed carriers matter. We often hear about the rare tragedies involving fi****ms. We hear far less about ordinary citizens who step forward when innocent lives are in danger. Whether measured in rounds fired or in the time and opportunity created for others to escape, courageous intervention can change the outcome.
In Twin Falls, one armed citizen refused to stand by while innocent people were being murdered, and his actions helped force the attacker’s attention away from defenseless victims.
This is why we train. Not to pass a test. Not to impress anyone on the range. To build the judgment, capability, and confidence to make the right decision on the worst day of your life.

I’ve been a private pilot for twenty -five years and a licensed drone pilot since the FAA took over drone regulations. Not only do I own , Drones have become a vital part of my businesses, including real estate, bail enforcement, and marketing.
I’m here to help you learn and integrate this amazing technology into your toolbox and make yourself even more valuable to the marketplace.
First: You must be a licensed drone pilot in order to use a drone for “furtherance of business.” So you’ll need to learn about faa regulation including airspace’s and the do’s and dont’s of operating under the FAA rules as well as how to pass the test.
Then you need to know how to choose (and use) the best drone for your purposes. They aren’t all the same and you can waste a lot of time and money picking the wrong drone. Some drones are very good at tracking, others are better at surveillance etc.
Finally, you need to know how to use a drone tactically, especially if you want to become an effective and competitive bail enforcer. This is where the fun really begins. But you can’t learn from just anyone, the FAA will have problem with that. So give me a call and follow us for the upcoming classes.
But first I’d like to know if you prefer online or in person. While we can’t do all of it online we can certainly start there.
