Better Barrel Races - BBR

Better Barrel Races, LLC is making adjustments to the ground and schedule for their upcoming event in December at the OKC Fairgrounds. Due to concerns surrounding the footing in the OG&E Arena at a previous event unaffiliated with the BBR, we have met with facility staff to discuss options moving forward. After careful consideration, BBR will be changing out the ground for the OKC Futurity from the Reining footing to the Fairgrounds footing. This change involves a significant financial cost, and schedule adjustments must be made to allow time for the changeover. The format of the FRG Futurity (for horses ending their futurity year) must also be adjusted to accommodate the loss of a competition day. While changing the footing will take an extra day of setup, BBR is committed to producing events that are safe, competitive and enjoyable for athletes at all levels.

Dates for the OKC Futurity are December 8-13, 2026. Please see updated schedule at OKCFuturity.com and take note that we will begin competition one day later than previously posted. However, stalls will still be open on Tuesday for a much smoother move-in and extended time to check in for exhibitions starting on Wednesday.

December 9-13, 2026 in Oklahoma City. $175,000 in added money across four sidepots, and every one of them is guaranteed.

🔵Right now a Futurity or Rookie entry is $750. On August 1 it goes to $1,000. 🔵The Derby is $500 today and $750 on August 1. Same run, same money to run for, just a bigger check to get in the gate.
