Today, Bud Haney was presented with a pair of golden clippers in recognition of something very few people will ever accomplish — 60 years running the same business, in the same location.

The clippers were presented on behalf of the Prairie Theatre, Lisa and Andy Byers, and Always Kaffeinated as a small way of saying thank you and congratulations for six decades of hard work and service to our community.

For me, this one is personal. I remember getting my hair cut by Bud 30 years ago when my parents owned the Prairie Theatre next door. I grew up seeing Bud there, and all these years later, there he still was.

I've always admired his work ethic and friendliness. Sixty years behind that chair means a whole lot more than haircuts. It means generations of customers, conversations, friendships, stories, and being a familiar face people could count on seeing downtown.

I know retirement wasn't an easy decision, Bud, but you've certainly earned it.
Your customers, friends, fellow business owners, and neighbors are going to miss seeing you at Haney's Barber Shop.
Now enjoy retirement, find something to keep yourself busy — just maybe don't pick up another pair of clippers. You've done enough of that. 😂
