E-bike safety update: Since Oceanside's updated e-bike ordinance took effect in February, the Oceanside Police Department has been tracking data and doubling down on outreach. Calls involving e-bikes jumped from 408 to 740 compared to this time last year, reflecting the uptick in e-bike usage in Oceanside.

OPD has held three free community courses this year, reaching 53 riders, and this school year, they're partnering with Oceanside and Vista school districts to teach safe riding habits before problems start.

Know the rules, ride smart, and look out for each other! Join a free bicycle safety course on Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 AM at OPD, 3855 Mission Ave. Topics include rules of the road, current traffic laws, e-bike safety, and helmet use.
