PRESS RELEASE*** IBERIAN CUP Now A Stand-Alone Event

From ancient times to modern top sport, Iberian horses have been at the center of competition. Today, Iberians have represented not only their native homelands of Spain and Portugal in International Dressage, but Iberian horses have also worn the flags of other countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Poland, France and even the United States.

IBERICON recognizes these outstanding accomplishments through its own Iberian Cup—an FEI-level Dressage competition that celebrates the Iberian horse’s contribution to the highest levels of sport by featuring today’s most accomplished Iberian equine athletes.

This year, IBERICON is proud to announce that the Iberian Cup will now be conducted as a stand-alone event, inviting only pure-bred Iberians to compete against each other in a competition dedicated to their unique capabilities. This non-rated show will be officiated by an international panel consisting of FEI 4* Judge Juan Carlos Campos, USEF “S” Judge Sue Kolstad and RFHE Dressage “A” Judge David Merida of Spain. Evin Rattner of the World Equestrian Center will serve as the Official Show Manager and all classes will be held in the indoor, climate controlled Arena 6 at WEC. Prize money is offered and a special welcome party for all competitors and their community on Wednesday afternoon.

Classes are offered at the 5 and 6 year old FEI Young Horse levels, Small Tour consisting of the Prix St. George and an Intermediate I Freestyle, and Big Tour, consisting of the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle. Held over two days, winners will be recognized on Sunday at the Final IBERICON Awards Ceremony. All classes will follow FEI regulations and standards.
