3 Training Tips

1. Consistency
Be consistent with both the time you spend and the way you train. Spending time with a young retriever is one of the most important things you can do. If you don’t feel like you can dedicate time, send them to a professional trainer. This is the best option for A LOT of people.

2. Be Educated
There are so many great resources available to learn how to train a dog, and there are several different approaches. Read articles, watch YouTube videos, talk to experienced trainers, or join a retriever club. The more you learn, the better you’ll be able to train your dog.

3. Basics First
Training a retriever that already has good behavior, listens, and follows basic commands is 1,000 times easier. Before worrying about retrieves, make sure your dog understands the basics.

A good retriever isn’t built in a few training sessions. It takes time, patience, consistency, and a lot of repetition.
