The title of my latest blog post: Simply Pilates.
Pilates method is not incoherent, overly complicated, or impossible to understand. More often, the confusion comes from how the method is delivered.
Too many corrections.
Too many exercises too soon.
Too much technical language.
Too much teacher-controlled movement.
A clear Pilates practice does not need a hundred competing ideas. It needs a few essential elements held in proper relation: a strong center, two-way stretch, control, coordination, and personalized rhythm.
Simple does not mean easy.
Simplicity is elevated teaching. It is the discipline of knowing what matters most in the moment, giving the student enough structure to practice, and enough space to develop ownership of the work.
