CCSD Sports Update - September 25-26, 2026 (Non-Football)
Boys' Cross Country
James Island Charter's Lee Hilton finished 16th out of 251 runners at the Low Country Invitational at Mullet Hall (Johns Island) on Saturday, helping the Trojans finish 12th out of 30 teams. Lucy Beckham had the highest team finish out of the participating CCSD schools, taking 10th place. West Ashley came in 18th place, followed by Charleston Charter in 21st and St. John's in 29th.
Girls' Cross Country
Lucy Beckham's Bowen Pons was the 15th-fastest runner (out of 203) in the Low Country Invitational, and she helped the Bengals finish 10th out of 22 teams. James Island Charter's Mae Moore took 23rd place in the individual standings, and the Trojans came in 8th place in the team standings. West Ashley (19th place) and Charleston Charter (22nd place) also competed in the race.
Boys' Swimming
Wando won the Region 6-AAAAA championship at the North Charleston Aquatic Center on Friday. The Warriors racked up 268 points, finishing way ahead of second-place Carolina Forest (147). Brody Johnson contributed to the title by winning the 50-yard freestyle and helping the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relay teams capture gold.

Wando won the Region 6-AAAAA championship at the North Charleston Aquatic Center on Friday. Wando won the Region 6-AAAAA championship at the North Charleston Aquatic Center on Friday, finishing more than 100 points (253-14) ahead of runner-up Carollia Forest. Nora Fritts had a big night, winning the 100-yard backstroke, finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle, and helping the 200-yard medley relay win. Kamryn McCoy was also part of the relay victory, won the 200-yard individual medley race, and took third in the 100-yard butterfly.
Boys' Volleyball
R.B. Stall (0-9, 0-3) took a set at Fort Dorchester, but came up short, 3-1 (25-10, 22-25, 13-25, 17-25).
Girls' Volleyball
Lucy Beckham had a solid performance at the Iron Horse Invitational (hosted by Philip Simmons). The Bengals went 6-1 and won the Silver Bracket title. Beckham defeated James Island (25-21, 25-17) and Palmetto Christian (25-23, 25-23) on Friday, then closed out pool play on Saturday with wins over Hanahan (25-16, 25-21) and Carolina Forest (25-22, 25-19), along with a close loss to the eventual tournament runner-up Gray Collegiate (26-24, 26-24). The Bengals went to take the Silver Bracket championship with straight-set victories over Summerville (25-21, 25-23) and Palmetto Christian (25-22, 25-18).
Lucy Beckham's season-long winning streak reached 16 matches before their loss to Gray Collegiate. The Bengals are now 21-4 on the season.
Wando played some of the toughest competition they will see this season, going 1-4 at the Sunshine Invitational in Florida. On Friday, they fell to Olympia, 2-1 (16-25, 25-14, 15-9), then came up just short to King's Academy, 2-1 (25-14, 23-25, 20-18). On Saturday, the Warriors took DeLand to three sets, losing 28-26, 18-25, 15-12; DeLand finished third overall in the tournament. Wando edged Georgetown Day in two sets, 26-24, 25-23, then closed out ot the tournament with a 2-0 loss to Westminster Christian, 25-19, 25-17.
Wando is now 21-6 in 2026.
