Let’s talk about light action finesse rods and the benefits. Light action rods offer the ability to cast micro baits and feather-weight baits a lot further. Light weight rods have a greater parabolic curve which is better suited for head shakes and jumps. Light action rod are built for lighter lines and lighter baits which allow the angler to make stealthy presentations to shy fish. These rods help anglers land skittish fish without tearing the hooks out. They are especially good for crappie fishing in creeks.

The blank action table…. As a seasoned Speckled Trout angler I look at this table and visualize the baits I use, the time of year I use them and depths I find fish at every level. For instance when I fish a jig “bottom bouncing” with a fast or extra fast tip, I expect to feel every shell, rock and even mud as those vibrations translates through my hands. When you fish a high performance rod, those vibrations are like radar to navigation. Wintertime trout are deep and lethargic. The bite at best can be described as a tap. You won’t feel that with a moderate action rod loaded with 20 .

Weight is the enemy of performance! Keep that in mind when it comes to your next rod purchase. Every guide creates a splinting effect on the blank. Rod builders design guide trains to minimize that effect. Custom rods are built lighter, faster and stronger because they are designed specifically to the customers style of fishing.
