Parents: your hitter does not need a swing change every time they struggle.

Going 0-for-8 doesn’t automatically mean something is mechanically wrong.

Sometimes the swing needs work.

Sometimes the approach was poor.

Sometimes their timing was off.

Sometimes they hit four balls hard right at people.

And sometimes the game is just hard.

One of the worst things we can do to a hitter is constantly search for something to fix every time the results aren’t there.

Look at the quality of the at-bats.

Look at the decisions.

Look at the contact.

Look at the process over time.

Not every struggle needs a fix. Sometimes they just need to keep competing.

There are a lot more ways to miss a pitch than there are to hit one perfectly.

It’s okay to give hitters a little grace in this game.

Don’t try to become someone you’re not just to make an impression.

Know who you are.
Know what you do well.
Play your game.

The best way to make an impression is to stop trying so hard to make one.

Why does barrel position at launch matter?

A more vertical barrel can give you a cleaner entry into the zone and make it easier to deliver the bat through the baseball.

Get flat too early and you may end up fighting the barrel just to get it moving.

Simplify the path. Let the barrel work.

Speed With Direction

• Bat speed with poor direction won’t play at a high level consistently. Be able to deliver your bat speed through the ball AND in a short window will.

• Bat speed means very little if you can’t transfer it.
