Congratulations to our three crews working the VHSL State quarterfinals yesterday and to the two crews who will go up and work this weekend.
We are fortunate to work with extremely talented teams with great coaches and players in this area who give us the opportunity to work postseason.
These 17 umpires who have stacked year after year of hard work and training represent us well in the postseason.
They started with clinics last October on the field working on positioning and judgement. They participated in indoor clinics this January that included specific topics including Trackman training for the strike zone. I realize many parents believe their view of the strike zone 350’ away and looking through a fence and 2 players is better, but for those of us without that super power, we train on Trackman.
After several clinics and Trackman sessions, our guys began their year with 3 in-person association meetings where we focus on topics for the upcoming season and 2 zoom meetings with video review training during the year. They worked 10 weeks of high school baseball, 2 weeks of regional playoffs, and were then selected to be at the top of our association to work the state playoffs.
We are very proud to say that these positions are extremely competitive. We have several deserving guys who didn’t make the list this year and will go at it again next year as well as several who are up and coming and will be there soon. EOA is in fantastic shape and every day we strive to get better.

The postseason is a magical place where teams compete and umpires are rewarded for their hard work over the last 5 months starting with preseason clinics and cage sessions. Congrats to all of our guys working postseason games over the next month!
