🎉🐴 Big John has officially graduated to Guest Trail Horse! 🎓🐴

This is exactly why we recover horses from the feedlot💛

When Big John was there, it would have been easy to look at an underweight horse who wasn't at his best and overlook everything he still had to offer. Sonja saw beyond where he was and believed in where he could go.

She brought Big John home and invested months of time, care, resources, patience, and a whole lot of love into his recovery.

And now?🥹 Big John is officially carrying S&D guests through the beautiful Hidden Valley Wildlife Preserve.🌿🐴✨

We couldn't be prouder of how far this gentle giant has come, and we're so excited that our riders now get to meet him, ride alongside him, and become part of his story.

Question: "What is the weight limit for horseback riding?" answered in 60 seconds⏲️💛

Rider weight, height, balance, the horse’s size and build all play a role in creating a safe and comfortable ride for both horse and rider.

At S&D, our standard horses accommodate riders up to 230 lbs, while our draft horses allow us to accommodate some riders up to 350 lbs, depending on height and other considerations.

Our goal is to match each rider with the horse that’s best suited for them, because the comfort and safety of both always come first🐴🤠
