One silent step. A skill that changes everything. ✨🥲
So incredibly proud of this sweet little one, and so grateful to his parents for trusting me with another of their precious gems.
Watching hard earned confidence replace hesitation (or worse, false confidence) never gets old. What a peaceful and perfect way to head into some time off. 🤍
Lower Bucks ISR
The safest provider of survival swimming lessons for children 6 months to 6 years of age.
My daughter practicing with my 3.5 yr old ISR fishy niece 🥰 My heart was bursting!
Pride aside, it was eye opening to be out in real life with a skilled toddler. She did all sorts of things to mess with her skills by just goofing around or getting tired and sloppy. Well-meaning family members (my daughter included) would accidentally indulge her in some not so great reps. I cannot stress enough how important it is for anyone swimming with your child regularly to do parent lessons, and to not forget how short your child’s swim windows need to be. If their tummy looks bloated, if they start doing weird/sloppy things, it’s time for them to take a break. Distract them with toys on the steps or get out and get a dry crunchy snack. And schedule maintenance for Fall to clean up all that will inevitably get messed with after a summer of fun!
Ps- sending a big thank you to Melissa Larsen for getting our little 💎 safe and beautifully skilled! You are a wonderful instructor and our family is very grateful 💙
Another lil sis appreciation post, this time with these little identical twin mermaid babies who melt me and make me laugh every single day. 😭😭 They’re newly two and have absolutely crushed learning Swim-Float-Swim, as seen here in their clothes and shoes!!! 🤩
Seeing them in maintenance won’t be soon enough, I will miss my daily dose of their sweetness! 🥰🥰
Ahhh I am in my feelings this Week 6 🥹 So many little brothers and little sisters of families I have now known for years and years…it is the biggest honor to skill each one and experience the magic again and again with their mamas 😭 We moon over how they have the exact same faces as the siblings who came before them, yet are somehow totally different. Over time I clock the familiar cries, sass, and smiles but also get to celebrate all the ways they are unique. ISR is just the best job in the world 🌎❤️
So proud of this lil fishy sis (and her committed chill all around awesome mama! ✨)
The sweetest and absolute cutest identical twin swimmers that you ever did see 🥰🥰
So very grateful for this family trusting me with all their precious gems over the years, cousins included 🥹 seeing the youngest skilled and happy is truly the best ❤️✨
No easy way to deliver a hard truth. Sorry not sorry! 😬
People whose children wore these and are fine will defend them like they invented them. But that is survivors bias at its finest.
Unless you teach children to swim and survive for a living, I am not interested in your defense of these. At best, they make it so hard to teach a child who has worn them to swim and float properly. At worst, they do all the things translated in this video, which are deadly to young children.
Share this and help save a life. Thank you for making it!
It is both heartbreaking and crushing to watch this mama talk about the drowning of her toddler, and all of the things she is begging people to hear and understand 😭
Drowning is not something that only happens to other people. It is an accident that can happen to ANY of us, especially those without an effective water safety strategy. An effective strategy = Supervision, Barriers, Alarms, SKILLS, and CPR. One layer can fail. Two are less likely to fail, and so on and so on. The more you have the better.
And lastly, a hard truth: don’t check off the skills box if you’re in sh*tty ineffective lessons where your child isn’t independently performing skills in a matter of weeks. You are wasting time and giving yourself a false sense of security, because if they’re not getting their face wet or floating without support in a lesson, they’re not going to magically do that in an emergency.
We are booked for summer but have 16 slots left in the fall, a number of which are in the prime time of 8-9a. Accept that something as awful as drowning is a real possibility, and then ruthlessly make sure you are doing every single thing you can to prevent it.
