Today is Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day, and we’re taking a moment to recognize one of the driving forces behind Sand Creek Station.

A huge thank you to James Houchen, whose dedication, leadership, and countless hours of hard work have helped shape our course since day one. Because of his passion and commitment, Sand Creek Station has grown into the course so many have come to know and love.

We’re also incredibly grateful for our outstanding grounds crew. Each member brings their own unique talents, expertise, and attention to detail, and together they work tirelessly to keep the course in exceptional condition every single day. Their efforts often happen behind the scenes, but they never go unnoticed.

The next time you see James or a member of our grounds crew, be sure to thank them for everything they do to make every round at Sand Creek Station a great one.

💲 Entry Fee: $100 per player

Please join us in welcoming our new Head Golf Professional, Taylor Nemeth, to the Sand Creek Station team!

A Newton native and PGA Associate, Taylor’s golf journey began right here at Sand Creek Station. After an accomplished career with Topgolf, where he held leadership roles including Director of Instruction, Regional Director of Instruction, and Senior Operations Program Manager at Topgolf World Headquarters, he’s returning home to give back to the course that started it all.

Since 2018, Taylor has taught more than 10,000 hours of golf instruction, helping junior golfers develop their game and achieve their goal of playing collegiate golf. Along the way, he has also had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from four Golf Digest-ranked instructors, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience back to Sand Creek Station.

Taylor is passionate about making golf enjoyable and approachable for players of all skill levels, and we’re excited to have him leading the golf program at Sand Creek Station.

You know why I love Kansas? 🌻 The people here are as friendly as they come.

Meet my new buddy, Terry Wallace. He came up to me before my round at Sand Creek Station Golf Course and introduced himself. He said he watches KWCH 12 and loves the jabs Jake Dunne and I throw at each other.

Fast-forward 11 holes later, and I catch up to Terry on the course. He invited me to join him, so we played the last 8 holes together.

During those 8 holes, I learned that Terry’s son was a standout runner in college, and we even have some mutual friends. I learned that Terry had a fantastic career as an engineer, and now he’s a dedicated golfer in retirement (much better than me, I might add). I even learned that Terry and I both workout at the same gym.

These are all things I would’ve never known if Terry hadn’t come up to me on the driving range.

Kansas is full of people just like Terry — friendly, genuine, and full of amazing stories. Find those people and connect with them. That’s what makes Kansas special. 💛
