The Mission of the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins Swim Team is to offer a competitive USA Swimming program for our local communities. We believe in providing multiple training groups in accordance with the ability levels and aspirations of our athletes. We foster the enjoyment and love of competitive swimming and strive for growth and excellence in our team members. With these principles as our foundation, the Blue Dolphins excel at local, state and national levels. CGBD offers high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. All of our coaches, as members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time. We are a non-profit club, run by an elected Board of Directors which meets each month. All members of CGBD are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team planning and activities. All CGBD competition and activities are supported by the volunteer efforts of our parents and families.

Relay Carnival 2026—Part 2! 🎉

The fun continued out of the water with tug-of-war, volleyball, basketball, games, face painting, and our CGBD apparel swap!

Of course, no carnival is complete without plenty of yummy food—cotton candy, donuts, candy, fresh fruit, and so much more! 🍩🍭🍓

From the pool to the games, it was a morning full of laughter, friendly competition, team bonding, and unforgettable memories with our CGBD family. Thank you to everyone who helped make our Relay Carnival such a special event! 💙💛🐬

🏊 CGBD Character Recognition is expanding for the 2026–2027 season! 💙💛
At CGBD, we want to develop great swimmers — but even more importantly, we want to help develop great people.

This season, our monthly recognition program will include children throughout the entire CGBD family:
⭐ Dolphin Swim School Spotlight
⭐ Dolphin Rec Swimmer of the Month
⭐ Dolphin Tier Swimmer of the Month
⭐ Age Group Tier Swimmer of the Month
⭐ Senior Tier Swimmer of the Month
And this is important: these awards are NOT about being the fastest swimmer.
Each month, our coaches and instructors will be watching for children who demonstrate character through their actions, attitude, effort, and the way they treat the people around them.

Our monthly themes will be:

💛 November — Excellence: Be Your Best
📚 December — Growth: Keep Learning
🤝 January — Unity: We Are Better Together

Because someday the goggles come off, the races end, and our kids grow up. We want what they learned as part of CGBD to go with them.

What. A. DAY! 🏊🏾‍♀️✨

The 2026 Virginia Swimming Swimposium was SO much fun!

Our CGBD swimmers got to hang out with not one, but TWO Olympians—Kate Douglass and Josh Davis! They met them, learned from them, saw Olympic medals up close, and even got to watch Kate swim!

Talk about a swimmer’s dream day! 🥇🏊🏾‍♀️

There was learning, inspiration, lots of excitement, and plenty of “Did that really just happen?!” moments.

We are so grateful to virginiaswimming for creating experiences like this for our athletes. Days like today remind our swimmers that the pool can take you places you never imagined.

CGBD was definitely soaking it all in! What a fun day! 💙💛
