First time on the water 💙🌊

Last week, a group of kids from CHOC joined us at NAC Paddle Camp for a day on the Newport Back Bay—including 3 kids from CHOC’s Spina Bifida Clinic and 5 kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities from across Orange County.

For many, it was their first time paddling. They learned the strokes, worked together as a crew, and even got a little racing in!

The day was part of the **NAC Makapo Aquatics Project**, an adaptive paddling program out of NAC focused on creating more opportunities for kids of all abilities to get on the water, learn to paddle, and experience everything our Back Bay has to offer.

A huge thank you to CHOC, NCL, the SCU Occupational Therapy doctoral students, our volunteers, and everyone who helped make the day possible.

More kids. More access. More time on the water. 💙 you can read about it more on our washdeck blog!
