Central Ohio Youth Ballet

Through structured training and stage experience, dancers grow in confidence, discipline, and artistry. The Central Ohio Youth Ballet was founded in 1995 by Robert Cole of The Ballet Academy and Lisa Cole of Moving Arts Pilates and Dance. Since that time we have grown to include dancers from seven central Ohio counties and a host of studios and academies. A 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, COYB has established itself as a successful training ground for talented dancers. Each year COYB presents two large productions that include the Nutcracker on Thanksgiving weekend and a spring performance which varies each year. Past spring performances have included Peter and the Wolf, Swan Lake, Giselle, contemporary works, to name a few. COYB has also presented outreach, festival and other smaller-scale performances throughout the year. Educational opportunities for dancers include an annual summer intensive program, master classes, and the Second Saturday program. Second Saturdays offer students unique opportunities to learn more about the dance world through classes, lectures, and field trips.

Two new masterclass dates are on the calendar! 🌟

Former BalletMet principal dancer Rachael Parini is joining us in the studio on Thursday, September 24, and Thursday, October 8, for an evening of classes and conversation with our Intermediate and Advanced dancers.

5:00–6:15pm: Intermediate Masterclass (Level II)
6:15–6:45pm: Q&A with Rachael
7:00–8:30pm: Advanced Masterclass (Level III)

Rachael brings years of professional experience to the studio, and we’re excited for our dancers to have the opportunity to learn from her.

Already enrolled in Intermediate or Advanced? You’re all set. The masterclass takes place during your regular class time and is included with Fall enrollment.

Stronger dancers start here. 💪

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is the conditioning work that makes everything else click. Targeting the specific muscles and alignment patterns ballet depends on, PBT gives dancers more strength, more body awareness, and more control every time they step into the studio.

Open to all area dancers ages 9 and up. No COYB enrollment required.

You don't need a dance background to belong here. 🌸

Our Teen & Adult Ballet program welcomes everyone, whether you grew up in the studio and are finally coming back, or you've always wanted to try ballet and never had the chance.

Classes focus on learning and developing real ballet technique in a setting that's encouraging, not intimidating. Along the way, dancers build strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence, all while enjoying the artistry and challenge of ballet.

Beginning and Intermediate levels are available for ages 16+.

A former BalletMet principal dancer is coming to our studio TOMORROW! 🌟

Rachael Parini spent years as a principal dancer with BalletMet (and beyond!) before retiring last year. This fall, she's bringing that experience into our studios for a masterclass our Intermediate and Advanced dancers won't forget.

Don’t panic! ❄️🐭🍬 There’s still time to audition for COYB’s The Nutcracker!

Whether your dancer has been counting down for weeks or just decided to give it a shot, this is your reminder to show up.

Dancers ages 8+ with at least one year of prior dance or gymnastics experience are welcome to audition. No prepared choreography and no previous Nutcracker experience are required, just come ready to move.

This year marks more than 30 years of COYB bringing this beloved story to stages across Central Ohio, and we can’t wait to see who joins the cast.

“I’ve never been in The Nutcracker before. Can I still audition?”

Every year, dancers come to COYB auditions without a single Nutcracker credit to their name and leave cast as a soldier, snowflake, party guest, or one of the other 80+ roles!

Dancers ages 8 and up with at least one year of prior ballet or gymnastic experience are welcome to audition. No prepared choreography is needed, just come ready to dance.

What does more than 30 years as a nonprofit look like? 💛
