IDA accelerates dancers' training through a series of ballet and/or tap exercises and dances designed to improve technique, performance quality, and stamina.

The curricula culminate in an adjudicated IDA Awards. **Achievement Through Performance** A developmental program for ballet studios that applies the principles of artistic and technical progress through performance. This program is steeped in classical ballet, complements all teaching methods, and accelerates students’ training. The IDA program has exercises and variations for both male and femal

This summer, I am stepping onto the studio floors at Joffrey Ballet School, STEPS on Broadway, and Ballet Hispánico to teach their intensive sessions.

When I train dancers at this level, the technical standard required is high. But whether I am working with pre-professional students in New York City or dancers at a regional community studio, the foundational key to growth remains exactly the same. Dancers thrive when they are given a clear, structured pathway.

At International Dance Acclaim, our philosophy is anchored in Achievement Through Performance. We provide an objective, standards-based evaluation framework that focuses entirely on technical mastery, clean ex*****on, and professional benchmarks.

By bringing this performance-driven adjudication into your studio, you command the respect of your most advanced families while simultaneously boosting student retention and confidence across your entire recreational program. High technical standards and a supportive dance community belong in the exact same room.

Your tap students speed up and suddenly the cramp roll falls apart. Sound familiar?

Clean articulation is almost always the first thing to go. That crisp 4-beat step turns into a muddy blur the moment weight transfers and rhythmic timing fall out of sync.

It is one of the most common technical breakdowns in a tap classroom, and this week IDA Tap Director Dianne Schiller is giving you the exact tools to fix it.

Dianne's 4-Beat Cramp Roll Troubleshooting Guide breaks down:

✔ Why the heel drops before the second toe releases, and how to stop it.
✔ How pitching forward locks the ankles and kills resonance.
✔ Three specific classroom drills your faculty can use this week.

Whether you are a teacher looking for a fresh approach or a studio director building a stronger tap faculty, this is a practical, ready to use resource built around one principle: Achievement Through Performance.

Your 6-year-old student loves to dance. Then the barre arrives. 🩰

You know the look. The one where a child who was flying through creative movement suddenly feels like they're failing a test they didn't know they were taking.

The transition to formal ballet training doesn't have to feel like that. Not for them. Not for you.

This July 21-23 at Energize Dance Conference in Chicago, I'm sharing the Ballet Building Blocks framework in my session, "The Bridge to Ballet: Elevating the 6-8 Year Old Experience."

It's the method I use to teach introductory barre work and pirouettes in a way that builds both technical precision and genuine confidence, so students leave class feeling challenged, seen, and hungry for more.

Because a serious, skill-based program should be the best part of their week. Not the part they dread.

Are you coming to Chicago this summer? Drop a 🩰 if you'll be there. I'd love to connect in person!

Are you training your dancers for impressive splits, or true functional strength? 🩰

Whether your students dance twice a week or train daily, they all need bodies strong enough to support what you ask of them. This summer at Dance Teacher Web I'm teaching a session that blends rhythmic gymnastics conditioning with classical ballet technique to build exactly that.

I wrote a little more about the approach over on the blog. Link in the first comment below!

Attending DTW this summer? Drop a comment and tell me what conditioning challenges you're working through this season.

How do you keep students motivated year after year? The secret is Objective Growth.

IDA's grading scale, from Pass to Elite Honors, provides a clear, external roadmap for every dancer. It transforms taking class into a measurable journey of excellence.

When students and parents can see exactly where they are and what it takes to reach the next tier, retention takes care of itself.

A deep plié and a soaring jump aren't opposites. One is the secret to the other.

When we stop framing jumps as a "look" and start teaching them as a physical skill, something shifts. Every student, regardless of background or body, gets access to real power.

I’m thrilled to be breaking these principles down at Dance Teacher Web this year alongside my son, Noam Tsivkin. As a professional dancer with State Street Ballet, Noam brings a high-level athletic perspective that helps every dancer find more elevation and landing safety. Come train with us. Link in bio. ⬆️

Sleeping Beauty. Tchaikovsky. Young dancers. And a framework designed to keep the magic real. 🩰

We are thrilled to be collaborating with renowned pianist Steven Mitchell of Balletrax.com on custom arrangements of the Tchaikovsky score, designed to support young technique and musicality.

In **The Storybook Pathway**, we wrap authentic technical training in the world of *Sleeping Beauty*. It’s about ensuring early learners stay engaged without sacrificing the high standards of IDA's curriculum.

A glimpse into the strategic methodology of our IDA Tap Director, Dianne Schiller. 👣

This video demonstrates how to layer complexity onto a standard Grapevine from our F1 Dance, "Latin Spice."

**The Progression:**

1. The Base: Basic Grapevine.
2. The Layer: Adding extra heels.
3. The Challenge: Adding a flap and a s***k.

This approach allows you to increase the technical challenge and speed without teaching an entirely new combination.

Dianne will be sharing her full system at this August in her session: "Teach It Once, Use It Twice: Smart Choreography for Busy Teachers."

She will also be hosting a live "Tap Teacher’s Troubleshooting" session to help you fix technical issues on the spot.

The Science of the Kneel: One movement, two technical goals. 🩰

In the IDA Pre-Junior Tier A2, we teach the final kneel in two distinct ways to bridge the gap between mechanics and momentum.

Slide 1: The 2-Count Slide. We focus on the stability of a held 1st position and a controlled weight transfer.

Slide 2: The 1-Count Slide. We test the dancer’s ability to "brake" momentum after skips and runs—stepping forward and finding a pointed foot instantly.

At IDA, we don’t "drop" into a finish; we train for precision.

Want the full pedagogical breakdown of why we teach it this way? Explore "The Science of the Kneel" on our blog: https://www.internationaldanceacclaim.com/the-science-of-the-pre-junior-kneel-mechanics-vs-momentum/
