Our Wednesday tower mat class with Mollie.
We make sure that everyone gets some hands on. The exercises are challenging and corrective. You leave the class with better posture, more energy, greater strength and flexibility. And most of all feeling positive and uplifted.

As part of our ongoing teacher development, we are reading the classic book “TAKING ROOT TO FLY” by Irene Dowd. This wonderful book is a must read for many movement professionals. It is timeless and inspiring.
The chapter today was about breath. Breath is life. Breath is essential in all movement. Sometimes breath is consciously controlled, sometimes breath is naturally flowing, sometimes breath is big and sometimes it is small. Using the breath to be calm and centered is something that we all strive for in Authentic Pilates. It was so nice to read Irene’s writing on this topic.
Authentic Pilates teachers study the Pilates system, but we also train in anatomy and complementary work to deepen our understanding of the human body and its infinite lessons.
We use this information to understand better the genius of the Authentic Pilates system and to be able to help our students with any issue they have, including how to breathe correctly.

Kiko Figueiredo is a lead teacher for Inelia Garcia. He brings the authenticity of Inelia‘s work - coming directly from Joseph Pilates through Romana. Kiko has trained many teachers and runs three exquisite studios in Portugal. 🇵🇹
