When you've been dealing with chronic pain for a long time, the pain is no longer just in your body. It's in your mind and nervous system too.
At first, the pain may start because of an injury, muscle tension, or stress. But when it lasts for months or years, something else starts happening. Your brain begins to learn. It starts associating certain movements, positions, and activities with pain.
Bending down, squatting, driving, riding a bike, sitting for too long, doing the dishes, carrying shopping bags, exercising... these activities become linked with danger in your nervous system.
Over time, your brain starts anticipating pain before you even move. This is known as pain anticipation, a feature of central sensitization. The nervous system becomes more protective, more sensitive, and more efficient at producing pain.
Even when the tissues have healed, your brain can continue generating pain because it has learned that these movements are a threat.
That doesn't mean the pain is "imaginary." The pain is very real. But the danger signal is coming from an overprotective nervous system rather than ongoing tissue damage.
This was exactly what happened to me.
I tried everything: physiotherapy, chiro, osteopathy, massage, stretching, medications, different pillows... I was constantly searching for the next treatment that would finally fix me.
At my worst, I struggled to bend down, squat, ride my motorbike, work, or even sit comfortably. My body felt constantly tight, guarded, and restricted. Every movement felt like something I had to be careful with.
The biggest change happened when I started combining movement training with nervous system retraining.
Not long after, everything started to change.
Today, I'm completely pain-free, and I help people who have tried everything for their pain finally break free from this cycle.

If you've been dealing with radiating pain, painful trigger points, tension headaches, migraines, or chronic pain for a while, you've probably noticed that no matter how much you rest, stretch, or get massages, your body always ends up tight again. It's like this tension never switches off.
I know because this is exactly what happened to me.
Here's what's really happening.
When your body stays in a constant state of tension, certain muscles can become overactive and develop painful trigger points. The problem is that these trigger points don't always hurt where they are. They can send pain into your neck, shoulders, back, and even into your head.
This happens because when your body gets stuck in chronic fight-or-flight and hypervigilance, your nervous system starts treating everyday life as if it's a threat and your body gets stuck in a tension loop.
Oftentimes, this can be related to stress, trauma, personality trait, or a combination of all three.
If your body is in this constant state of alert, your muscles can become locked in tension, and your body no longer knows how to switch it off.
Maybe your shoulders are always tense, you deal with jaw clenching, painful trigger points, tension headaches, migraines, or you carry constant tension in your back, chest, belly, or other areas of your body.
I know this because I used to deal with all of these things myself during my chronic pain journey.
After years of researching, experimenting, and trying many different treatments and approaches, I finally understood how a nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight can keep the body locked in tension.
Once I learned how to regulate my nervous system and introduced a new type of movement training into my routine, my chronic pain went away.
After recovering from my chronic pain and helping many people in similar situations do the same, I realized how common these patterns are.
Now I use this specific approach to help people who have tried everything to finally break free from chronic pain.

Stop seeking certainty if you want to heal.
The more certainty you look for, the more uncertainty you'll find.
When you stop trusting yourself, you stop feeling safe. And when your body doesn't feel safe, it stays in fight or flight.
Maybe you grew up in an environment where you learned not to trust. So now you question every sensation, every thought, every symptom, looking for reassurance that you'll finally feel okay.
But those moments of reassurance never last.
The more you search for certainty, the more you teach your brain that there's something to be vigilant about.

When you live with chronic pain, your body is not the only part connected to the pain. Your brain and nervous system learn to expect it too.
Let me explain.
Most chronic pain starts after an injury or a stressful event, and when you experience it for months or years, the pain is no longer just in your body. The pain is in your brain and nervous system too.
After a while, your brain becomes wired for pain, sending pain and tension signals throughout your body, even when the injury has healed.
Because your body no longer feels safe, it goes into a protective state. Your muscles lock to protect you, your body becomes more guarded, and it no longer knows how to move freely.
As your nervous system keeps sending those danger signals, it creates real symptoms, including constant muscle tightness, pain, burning sensations, tingling, numbness, pulling sensations, and shocking sensations.
The more your nervous system learns those danger signals, the more your body expects pain, stays tense, and reinforces the same cycle over and over again.
That's why so many people try stretches, massages, adjustments, injections, and different exercises, but the pain and tension always come back.
Those treatments don't change what your nervous system has learned.
That was exactly what happened to me.
I spent years dealing with chronic pain. I tried all kinds of stretches, exercises, and treatments, but nothing really worked long term.
Everything changed when I started retraining my nervous system and combining that with very specific movement. That's when my body finally learned to move freely and stopped returning to the same tense state. My tense muscles finally started switching off, my pain gradually disappeared, and I became completely pain-free.
I stopped having constant neck pain, migraines, and back pain, and I've been pain-free for the last 8 years.
Now I use this same approach to successfully coach my chronic pain clients who have tried everything.

A few years ago, I tried everything to get rid of my chronic pain. Stretching, massage, physio, exercises... no matter what I did, my body always went back to the same state of tension.
Things only changed when I stopped focusing on the muscles and started addressing my nervous system. I realised how much chronic tension my body was holding, and I had to teach it how to move from a relaxed, stable state instead of constantly bracing.
The breakthrough came from combining nervous system work with the right movement training. Instead of stretching tight muscles over and over, I focused on bringing stability back into my body and teaching it to move from a different state.
Instead of constantly fighting my body, I taught it how to let go of the tension it had learned to hold. As my body relaxed, my movement improved, and my chronic pain went away.
Since then, I've helped hundreds of people break the same cycle of chronic neck pain, migraines, tension headaches, back pain, and other chronic symptoms using this method.

Over the past decade working as a coach, I've never come across someone with migraines who didn't also have a tense jaw, a tense neck, or tense shoulders.
Once I overcame my own migraines and chronic pain, I started recognizing the exact same signs in the people I was coaching. The same tension. The same protective state. The same cycle I had been stuck in for years.
When your body gets stuck in a protective state, your muscles stay switched on all the time. Your body learns how to hold tension but never how to let go of it. Your body keeps bracing for impact, creating a cycle of tension that can be difficult to break unless you start treating it from a different angle. That's exactly what happened to me.
Things only changed for me and my clients when we started focusing on regulating the nervous system first, releasing chronic tension at its source, and bringing stability back into the body with the right movements.
Most treatments fail because they focus on the symptoms and not the root cause of the problem: your nervous system. Unless you address this first, the pain will keep coming back.

If your neck pain just won't go away, no matter what you try, and you've been dealing with it for over three months, you're most likely dealing with a case of chronic neck pain.
By this point, your tissues have usually had enough time to heal. But the pain is still there. You've tried stretches, massage, physio, maybe even medication, yet your neck keeps tightening up and the pain keeps coming back.
For many people, chronic neck pain starts after an injury or a very stressful period. The problem is that the body can stay stuck in a protective state long after the original trigger has passed. Your nervous system learns to keep your muscles switched on all the time, so your neck is constantly tense, and everything you try either doesn't help or makes the pain worse.
That's exactly what happened to me.
Everything changed when I stopped focusing only on my neck and started targeting my nervous system. I had to combine nervous system training with specific movement training to teach my body to release tension and feel stable again.
After that, my muscles finally stopped tensing up, my body started learning how to move more freely, and my chronic neck pain went away.

Heat or cold for chronic pain?
Neither. Here's what's really happening.
If you've been dealing with chronic pain for a while, especially neck or back pain, your body can become stuck in a protective state. Your nervous system learned to keep your muscles tense all the time, and your body doesn't know how to switch off that tension anymore.
That's why treatments like massage, stretching, heat, or ice may give you temporary relief, but the pain and tension often come back.
In some cases, cold can even make your muscles tighter. (It definitely did for me.)
In my chronic pain healing journey, I tried all sorts of treatments, including cold showers and cold plunges, but they only made my body tense up even more. Heat gave me some temporary, mild relief, but neither solved the problem.
The reason is that when your nervous system is dysregulated, it can keep sending signals that keep your muscles tense and switched on all the time.
My shift from constant pain to being pain-free only happened when I started addressing my nervous system.
When I finally learned how to regulate my nervous system and how to do the exercises to stabilise my body, my chronic pain went away.
Since overcoming chronic pain, I've been using this same method to help others do the same.

Stop stretching if your body is still stuck in fight or flight.
Don't get me wrong. Stretching can be a great thing for many people.
But when your body is stuck in chronic pain, your nervous system is keeping your muscles in a protective state. You're trying to stretch a body that's locked in tension no matter what you do.
Every time you stretch, you're moving from a tense state. And instead of helping, it can make your muscles even tighter. Even if you get temporary relief, your body goes straight back to that same state of tension.
That's exactly what happened to me. When I had chronic pain, I tried all sorts of stretches. But every time I stretched, my body would end up tighter and in more pain.
And I've seen the same thing with so many people I coach. They try stretches from YouTube and from physios, but because their body is still stuck in that protective state, the tension either gets worse or the stretches don't work.
Things only changed for me, and for the people I coach, when we stopped chasing tight muscles and started focusing on nervous system regulation and conscious movement training.

Why most chronic pain treatments don't work.
When I was dealing with chronic pain, I did everything I was told to do. I had MRIs done. I had "professionals" telling me I had spinal abnormalities and that I needed treatment. I spent years going to physio. I tried chiropractic treatment, massage, stretching, and medication.
But no matter what I tried, my body would always end up tight and in pain again.
Things only changed when I learned how my body was being affected by living in a constant state of tension and hypervigilance. My threat sensitivity was high. I was constantly scanning for danger, expecting the worst, and my body was preparing for it by staying tense all the time.
When I learned how to regulate my nervous system and started doing exercises that brought safety and stability back into my body, everything started to change. My muscles finally learned how to switch off, my body stopped constantly bracing, and the pain went away.
If you're dealing with chronic pain right now, you've tried many treatments, and nothing seems to work, and you want to learn how to get rid of it, comment "METHOD" and I'll send you the resources.
