As Artificial Intelligence moves onto the battlefield, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has shared his deep concern about the potentially disastrous consequences.

Describing the taking of human life by AI weapons as “morally repugnant,” the Secretary-General has stressed:

“Some decisions must remain forever human – none more than taking a human life.”

Sport has the power to unite people across borders and cultures. It can help promote equality, dignity and respect.

There is no place in sport or public discourse for hatred or dehumanization based on a person’s race or ethnic origin.

From eradicating smallpox to healing the ozone layer, over the last 80 years the UN has led the way to some of humanity’s greatest triumphs.

Every year, pollution is responsible for around 9 million deaths — making it one of the biggest environmental health risks to humans.

To beat pollution, we need ambitious targets, decisive action and global collaboration.
