FRIDAY NIGHTS IN THE 90s 📼✨

there was just something about going to blockbuster on a friday night, picking out one movie + making a night of it

so we’ve been bringing it back with our kids! every week we pick a movie from the 80s or 90s, make homemade popcorn (without seed oils of course) + “friday night movie night” has become something we all look forward to each week ❤️

i love getting to share some of our childhood favorites with them while creating new traditions and memories of our own

a few of our favorites so far (in no particular order): goonies, mighty ducks, the sandlot, mrs. doubtfire, homeward bound, honey i shrunk the kids, ET, home alone, jumanji + hook

fellow millennials, what movie from our childhood do i HAVE to show my kids next?!

i usually wait til september 1st to indulge my love of pumpkin, but the starbucks fall menu returns this week so i couldn’t wait 🎃 (and if we’re being honest, i started making this last month)

i used to hit up starbucks to get my daily pumpkin fix, from the day the fall menu dropped up til christmas. but i started making this creamer a few years ago and haven’t looked back

skip the fake flavors + sugar overload in the starbucks version and make your own with 6 whole food ingredients that tastes so much better

(use organic ingredients when possible)

* 1 c half + half (or creamer of choice)
* 1/4 c pumpkin purée
* 2 tbsp maple syrup (can add more, to taste)
* 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
* 1 tsp vanilla
* pinch of sea salt

WHAT TO DO

- add all ingredients into a mason jar + whisk to combine

pour over your favorite coffee + you’ve got fall in a glass (you’re welcome 🍂🍁🍂)

HOMEMADE DELI MEAT ✨

full recipe below, but COMMENT “DELI” + i’ll send it straight to your inbox along with the link to the deli meat press 🙌🏻

deli meats contain several ingredients that are bad for your health, including nitrates and nitrites, phosphates, processed additives + chemical contaminants

you especially want to avoid nitrates, which are preservatives used in deli meats to prevent bacterial growth and preserve color. when digested, they can convert into nitrosamines which are known carcinogens

but don’t be fooled by meat labeled as “nitrate free”. these meats use natural sources of nitrates, but they can still convert into nitrosamines in the body

in fact, deli meats have even been classified as group 1 carcinogens

so next time you’re craving a deli sandwich, try making your own deli meat with 3 simple ingredients instead

YOU NEED
(use organic ingredients when possible)

* 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
* 1/2 tbsp sea salt
* 1 tbsp honey

WHAT TO DO

- add ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth
- coat your deli meat press with some avocado oil spray, then put mixture inside and close the container with the spring, lid + thermometer
- fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil, then place the deli meat press into the pot and let simmer for about an hour, your meat thermometer should read approx 160 degrees
- let cool, place in the fridge overnight, then remove, slice + enjoy!
