As a coach, you should absolutely be able to demonstrate exercises with confidence, showcase proper form and that you have the skill and conditioning to do the workout you’re programming. Credibility matters. Leading by example matters…
But truthfully, you’re not the star of the show. You’re the guide. Your job is to elevate the people in front of you, not perform for them.
IMO the most effective instructors know when to step away from the movement so they can work the room. They scan for form breakdowns. They offer individualized corrections. They provide encouragement exactly when someone needs it. They create connection. They verbally cue with intention. They make every participant feel seen.
🗣️The best coaches can crush the workout. The smartest coaches know when not to.
