This year, as every year, ISHTA’s Douglass Stewart headlines at Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga, an event that Douglass co-founded, celebrating the Summer Solstice by uniting yoga enthusiasts from across the world. Experienced Yogis and first timers alike are invited to join the festivities for one of the free yoga classes taking place throughout the day Sunday, June 21 on Broadway pedestrian plazas, finding calm once again within the chaos of life in New York City.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Manipura Chakra Workshop & Training this weekend.
Together we explored Manipura—the center of inner fire, purpose, and our ability to follow through with what matters most.
A heartfelt thank you to Nandi for the beautiful sound experience, to Susan and Stephen for their yummy hands-on adjustments, and to everyone who assisted throughout the workshop and training.
Grateful for this community and the opportunity to learn, practice, and grow together.

Asanas, pranayama, aromas, and kriya techniques will be explored so to create suppleness within the body and mind. Cathy will also share healing Ayurvedic tips to help quell inflammation when faced with the reactive energies of hot, humid days. In studio participants will have the option to make aromatic sachets for their own personal use.

A Somatic Journey into Inner Quiet
Using natural sounds such as rain, wind, ocean waves, and even thunder, we explore how the nervous system responds to activation and how we can return to regulation without needing the world around us to become silent. Through somatic awareness, vagus nerve practices, visualization, breathwork, grounding, and deep fascial release, we’ll strengthen our capacity for self-regulation and resilience. Together we’ll practice:
• Expanding body vocabulary and learning the language of sensation
• Recognizing cues from the nervous system before stress takes over
• Activating and settling the nervous system safely
• Releasing restrictions in the diaphragm and breath
• Finding support through weight, gravity, touch, and presence
• Discovering an inner refuge that remains available even in the middle of life’s noise
The goal isn’t to avoid stimulation. The goal is to develop the ability to meet it with awareness, flexibility, and a calm, steady breath.

Awakening Your Power - Balancing and Harnessing the Fire Within
Manipura, the solar plexus chakra, is our center of energy, willpower, and self-definition. It is where the fire element resides, the energy that enables us to act, transform, and step into our purpose. When balanced, we have clarity, confidence, and the ability to meet challenges with strength and discernment.
The workshop with begin with gentle asana, followed by luxurious restorative postures, accompanied by a soothing sound bath and aromatic, hands-on assists. The workshop will conclude with Mona’s signature Yoga Nidra “The Golden Shadow of Light” to help you balance your energy, release what lies in the subconscious and unconscious, and be able to move through life with more clarity and joy.
