Joffrey Ballet School

Meet the faculty of our Children’s & Youth Ballet Programs for the 2026–2027 season! Led by Artistic Director Jennifer Howard .joffreyschool, this dedicated team of educators will welcome dancers into the studios for a year centered around learning, creativity, and a growing love for dance.

From building strong foundations in ballet technique and musicality to encouraging confidence, artistry, and self-expression, our faculty meets young dancers at each stage of their development. Through thoughtful instruction and an encouraging studio environment, students are given the space to grow their skills, explore their potential, and experience the joy that comes with being part of a dance community.

We look forward to all that our students will learn, create, and experience alongside this wonderful faculty throughout the season!

What a week it has been at our NYC Children’s Dance Camp! Our studios have been filled with dancing, creativity, new friendships, and plenty of smiles as our young dancers explored, learned, and had fun together.

We’re so excited to enjoy one more day of movement, imagination, and all the energy our dancers have brought to the studio this week. We can’t wait to see what our dancers bring to their final day together!

A new year has begun for our Pre-Professional Trainee Program, and we are thrilled to welcome new and returning dancers back to Joffrey Ballet School! Throughout Orientation Week, students have connected with their peers, met members of our artistic and school leadership and faculty, and learned more about the history, community, and opportunities that will shape their experience in the years ahead.

Designed for aspiring dancers pursuing a professional career, our year-round Pre-Professional Trainee Program offers two concentrations of study, Ballet and Jazz & Contemporary, within an immersive training experience focused on developing technique, artistry, adaptability, and the whole artist. For dancers who have completed their high school education, our affiliation with The University of Akron also provides the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance while continuing their training here in New York City.

We are excited for a year of growth, discovery, and new experiences for our Trainees. Stay tuned for more moments from Orientation Week!

IC:EX brings together dancers, choreographers, and artists from across the international dance community for an immersive workshop experience centered on repertoire, collaboration, artistic exchange, and performance.⁠

This November, we’re excited to welcome IC:EX Gen 5 to Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, November 21–November 25, 2026.⁠

Over the years, several of our Joffrey Ballet School Trainees and Joffrey Concert Group dancers have been part of the IC:EX journey, participating in past generations and YAGP Gala performances.⁠

We look forward to welcoming IC:EX back to our studios this fall and seeing the next generation of dancers take part in this unique collaborative experience.⁠

As a new season begins for our Pre-Professional Trainee Program, we are getting ready for another exciting milestone: auditions for the Joffrey Concert Group ! These moments from last year’s auditions capture our trainees stepping into the studio for the opportunity to join the resident dance company of the Joffrey Ballet School.

Under the artistic direction of Bradley Shelver , the Joffrey Concert Group offers selected dancers from our year-round Trainee Program the opportunity to further their pre-professional training through the experience of working as part of a company. Through rehearsals, repertory, and performances, dancers continue developing the artistry, versatility, and professionalism that prepare them for the next stages of their careers.

We are excited to see what this season’s trainees bring to the audition studio and look forward to welcoming the 2026/2027 Joffrey Concert Group soon!

We are excited to introduce the faculty guiding our Pre-Professional Trainee Program’s Jazz & Contemporary Trainee concentration throughout the 2026–2027 season! Under the leadership of Artistic Director Angelica Stiskin , dancers work with a dynamic group of educators and artists whose diverse professional backgrounds and creative perspectives reflect the range of today’s dance landscape.

Throughout the year, trainees are encouraged to expand their movement vocabulary, explore different styles and approaches, and develop the versatility and individuality that will carry them beyond the studio. From technical development to creative exploration and performance, our faculty provides the guidance and real-world perspective that helps dancers discover who they are as artists while preparing for the many directions a professional career can take.

We look forward to a season of growth, collaboration, and artistic discovery with this incredible faculty and our Jazz & Contemporary Trainee concentration students!

Our NYC Children’s Dance Camp is filling the studios with movement, creativity, and plenty of fun! Throughout the week, our young dancers are exploring ballet, jazz, flamenco, creative movement and making dances, with each class offering a new way to move, imagine, and learn together.

Guided by Lead Faculty Kelly Hayes , and faculty members Julia Armour .e.armour and JoDe Romano , dancers are building confidence, trying new styles, making new friends, and enjoying every moment of their time in the studio. We’re having an incredible week so far and can’t wait for all that’s still ahead!

In just two weeks, our Children’s & Youth Ballet Program dancers will be back in the studios for the start of the Fall 2026 semester! We’re looking forward to welcoming new and returning students for another season of ballet training, creativity, and meaningful moments shared with friends in the studio.

Meet the faculty guiding our Pre-Professional Trainee Program’s Ballet Trainee concentration throughout the 2026–2027 season! Led by Artistic Director Era Jouravlev and Associate Artistic Director Stacy Caddell , our faculty brings a wealth of professional experience, knowledge, and artistic perspectives into the studios as they support dancers preparing to take the next steps toward a professional career.

Rooted in rigorous classical ballet training, the Ballet Trainee concentration challenges dancers to strengthen their technique while developing the artistry, adaptability, and performance skills essential to today’s dance world. Through dedicated training and mentorship, our faculty helps each dancer grow as a whole artist, building the confidence, resilience, and versatility to approach a professional career with purpose.

We are proud to introduce the faculty who will be guiding our Ballet Trainee concentration students throughout the season and helping shape this next generation of artists.

Register TODAY for our Winter 2026 Absolute Beginner Ballet Workshop with faculty member Annastasia Mercedes! Whether you are completely new to ballet or have been looking for the right place to begin, this workshop is a welcoming opportunity to learn, move, and build confidence in the studio.

This is an introductory five-or-six-class workshop for adults with little to no prior ballet experience. Students are guided through the foundational elements of ballet, including basic positions, core exercises, introductory terminology, posture, alignment, and classroom etiquette.
